SM or Speedy?
I had some free time so I went into Omega (FL). Tried on these two beauties, they looks like great timepieces to add to my collection, but not both. Which one would you choose and why?Saludos!!
Went for it!
I had been looking at the 5726 as some of you may have noticed from my recent thread, went to the AD today to place the deposit for it and he showed me the 5712G he had hidden away. This was a watch I'd written off as too slim for me and was unsure about the asymmetric dial. However when I put the watch on my wrist the proportions looked great, actually much better than the 5980 I also tried. Not to mention it was in white gold and the lack of AC was not a problem since I already own a 5205. I think the dial is very nice in person, the asymmetry gives it a technical look, and the slate dial is very reactive to light changes and is very interesting. The case is a work of art! I absolutely love I went home and picked up my fiance to come and take a look, she told me to definitely go for it. So I did and here we are now a half an hour later back home as the very proud owner of a 5712G and 5205R!I have had them put the 5712 on the composite waterproof strap and I think it just looks so goo
The Cellini-Tudor Enigma
So, I'm having coffee with a friend yesterday, a non WIS, and he inquired about Rolex; there was an add for a Cellini in a magazine on the table. It went something like this:Him: Isn't a Cellini a Rolex? Me: Yes, it is Him: Then... what's the difference? Me: Well, it's ... I guess... kind of like a Ford, there are Fiestas, and there are Lincolns, they are both made by Ford, but... well, a Lincoln is not a Ford... ... ... Him: Uhm.... and... a Tudor..... what's that? Me: Uhm... well, I guess a Tudor would be a basic model Rolex... I... uhm.. guess like the Fiesta is a basic Ford, but if the basic Ford had a different division name... like.... uhm Basic or something Him: But... Cellini and Tudor ARE Rolexes.... right? Me: Uhm... well, yes... but.. they are Cellinis and Tudors.... See? Him: Uhm... and... your watch, says: Rolex' on it... it's... a Rolex(?) Me: Yes Him: Uhm... but if you had a watch that said: Cellini' on it, ... it would also be a
The Rolex Sky-Dweller
Evening All,Before setting out my two questions below, I just wanted to say how fabulous this forum is. I've been a fan of the brand for many years, and have yet to pull the trigger on my first. I'm in no way torn as to which one, as the clue is in the title. As seasoned Rolex owners, buyers, and sellers: (1) do you think it's possible as a newbie to buy a SS SD in blue or black for RRP right now, or even in the next three months?(2) do you think the SS SD will become more affordable--meaning RRP-- in the next 12 months, or do you think the watch will go the way of the SS Daytona and require joining a waiting list?I ask because I have called many AD's on the East Coast (I'm based in VA), and no-one seems to have any. I mean no-one. I note that there are quite a few on the grey market for $17.5-20k, which makes me wonder if there are any with the AD's. It stands to reason that if the GM sellers can get them, then there must be some around. Of course, it could be that the current
