Hands-On: Zenith Launches A Suite Of Three New High Complications In New Materials (Including A Plat
Zenith has just announced that three of its most complicated watches, which premiered this year in new case materials, are now available – and we had a chance recently to go hands-on with the new models, and gather some first impressions of these very exotic and very rarely seen timepieces. The new models are a limited edition platinum version of the Zenith Academy Christophe Colomb Hurricane Georges-Favret Jacot, and titanium versions of the Academy Georges Favret-Jacot (with fusée and chain) and the El Primero Tourbillon. 1 OF 12 Above, Academy Christophe Colomb Hurricane Georges Favret-Jacot in platinum The Academy Georges Favret-Jacot was launched, as we reported last year, for the firm’s 150th anniversary and is named for Zenith’s founder, Georges Favret-Jacot, who founded the firm in Le Locle in 1865 at the age of 22. 2015 Class Photo
Since I have recently refocused my collecting efforts on vintage Omega, I wanted to share this year's class photo. The only watch I already had in my collection prior to 2015 was the jumbo bumper Seamaster that I got in 1987 at an estate auction when I was 7.
The buyer of the Paul Newman Paul Newman
So I came across the video about 40 minutes long and it was an interview at SIHH of Aurel Bacs . it centered around the Paul Newman Paul newman That Recently sold for 17 million . One of the questions was about the morality of such an expensive watch . His cancer centered around charity and part of the proceeds going to charity .However interesting Comment was he knows the buyer and how much they Contribute to charity . So I was thinking that a Rolex contribute most of the profits to charity. Would they make Rolex the new owner of the Paul Newman .
Long time "watcher", first time poster
Like what I did there?.... So here's my watch. Originally my father's which he purchased in about 1981 after securing a big shipping contract in the Middle East, where I grew up. Thought it was lost for the last 17 years as Dad had Alzheimers, but it turned up in a box of junk (her words) that my Stepmum gave me after he passed away last year. The President 18c bracelet was broken and worn, the glass chipped, the crown missing, and was in a state of severe disrepair. I bit the bullet and spent $NZ5k having the centrepiece repaired by Rolex and it is now under warranty and in as newcondition. I had to change the dial as the old one (gold) had radium and had to be removed according to Australian law. Went for the metallic blue dial and brown leather strap for a sort of classic/ modern look. I'll get the gold bracelet repaired in good time, but for now I'm pretty pleased with the result. Great to give this watch a new lease of life and in a way I feel closer to Dad as it was his most pre
