MB&F MusicMachine By Reuge Hands-On: The $13,000 Music Box
Earlier in 2013,?MB&F announced its first non-watch item, the MusicMachine produced in collaboration with the last remaining music box maker in Switzerland, Reuge. Anyone who has been around the watch circuit knows about Reuge because their products often appear at watch trade shows and in some high-end watch stores. Together with Reuge, MB&F released a space-themed music box (without the actual box) that played such classic romantic songs such as the theme from Star Wars (by John Williams) and Smoke on the Water (by Deep Purple). I know I get teary-eyed with nostalgia when I hear those.watches-dealer debuted the MB&F MusicMachine here in April. It was rather surprising actually since it was not only unexpected but also outside their normal product release schedule. It was a sort of "extra" product that came out of nowhere. The implications of the MusicMachine are actually quite interesting for the overall MB&F brand, that is growing much larger than founder Max Busser
BRM Timepiece Is Love Letter To Motor Oil
In love with Gulf Racing, the?BRM CNT-44-GULF watch is brimming with oil. Everyone knows that most mechanical watch movements contain oil in them as a necessary part of machine lubrication. So yea, most all watches already have oil inside of them. But not quite like this. For oil magnates and elephants (you oil people know what I am talking about), this is a timepiece that celebrates good ol' black gold with a small container of motor oil right in the dial. This may just be BRM's most intense wristwatch homage to motor sports ever.French BRM makes many of its timepieces to look like pieces from race car engines. Some of their movements even look like engines. So I suppose including a capsule of motor oil from a race car engine is a logical next step. The watch is the CNT-44-GULF, and is further an homage to the former oil company Gulf and its historical connection with auto racing. Specifically, the CNT-44-GULF watch uses actual motor oil from a (current) Gulf Racing LOLA LMP2 GULF rac
New ROC Silver Dial
Does anyone have pictures of this? We barely have seen pictures of this one, and they been bad pictures at that. My dealer just bumped me to the top of the list for the new 15202. I'm debating between that and the new ROC silver dial with black sub dials. Not sure which way to go. I can pretty much get them both at a good discount (20+% I won't say the exact %). I'm attracted to the 15202 for the thinness and the 2121 movement. Also it will probably hold value way better. But I like the way the ROC looks more, at least based off pictures on the AP website. What do you all think?
Should It Stay or Go?
I love this new Omega AT on rubber. And when it came out, I jumped on it. It was as the watch I'd been waiting for. If you have ever read any of my posts, you might know I love rubber straps. However, shortly afterwards, I fell for a watch I thought I'd never actually pull the trigger on. In all fairness I don't wear much of anything besides the Daytona. But specifically with this AT, this seems too similar. If I'm consolidating a little it seems it should go. While I love it, I don't ever see me wearing this instead of the Daytona. What does the consensus say? Can these two coexist? Or rather should they?
Ceramic Omega Speedy 9300 anyone?
Now that is a design I can get behind. I highly suspect the price will be rather steep though...More details now available at .ablogtowatch/baselwor...-of-the-moon/#
