The metal plate with the glass powder is then baked in an oven hot enough to melt the glass. This enameling process produces a beautiful deep, shiny surface. Only few of the plates will survive the 900+ degree Celsius fire and produce an even surface. The slightest imperfection in the mixed powder or the supporting metal plate, or even a speck of dust will ruin the dial. So after seeing SteelerFan65's beautiful chocolatey goodness 53 year old Speedy (His beauty can be seen here:.rolexforums/showthread.php?t=293173), I really wanted one. So with the help of Krlyuzh I was able to acquire my own chocolatey goodness! I have had it for a couple of weeks, but finally got around to posting the pics. Hope you enjoy as much as I have wearing this beauty. Right now keeping it on the bracelet, but am looking for a nice brown leather band.Now I just to have wait for 53 years before I can get that vintage look! A couple of wrist shots.

The 5170 photographs well but seems unusually soft on the secondary market. Any thoughts from owners of the 5170j or 5170g why this might be?I know the predecessor 5070, now considered iconic by many, also had a rather rocky start. Curious to hear from current/past owners, especially of the original 5170j, what you liked or didn't like about this reference. It's been about 7 years now since its release and I'm baffled by its seemingly lukewarm appeal.Edit: sorry, typo in the header - should be 5170

I haven't posted in awhile. I had a Pam69 for about a year. I bought it just to have a Pam in my collection. I didn't wear it much because my attitude was meh.then, an AD showed me this 337 with its perfect symmetry 42mm case, time only dial, and sandwich lume. now I get the PAM fanaticism, and it's become my dailywearer. old dogs can learn new tricks.
