Pairs Well With: Anstead Oceanis
We were super excited about the Anstead Oceanis kickstarter that happened a few months ago. We thought; finally, someone is using kickstarter to fund a watch that isn't a piece of tech, but rather a well-designed and affordable watch with styling we can get behind. The Oceanis is a bit vintage, a bit tactical and all around masculine and rugged. The technical dial is balanced beautifully by the steel bezel that sports a fierce, but practical toothed edge. Best of all, it's an auto powered by a Seiko NH36a movement that costs about $400. It goes without saying that we'll be giving it the w&w review treatment soon enough, but we thought that the look of this watch beckoned for a PWW as well. So, we tasked Mr. Dexter Austria with pairing the Anstead Oceanis with an outfit of similar inspiration. Military influence is at the core of each piece in one-way or another, and the outfit comes together to be handsome and a touch edgy.1. Anstead Oceanis2. Rolltop in Olive Waxed Twill by Archiva
Hands-On: The Piaget Emperador Coussin XL 700P (Live Pics, Pricing, And A Bit More On Quartz/Mech Hybrids)
There are always a few major surprises at any major watch show, and the Salon this year had a big one. That was the presentation by Piaget of the Emperador Coussin XL 700P, a hybrid quartz-mechanical watch, which we first presented to you as part of our pre-SIHH coverage last December, and which was created, says Piaget, in celebration of its first in-house quartz movement from 1976. Having seen it, at last, “in the metal” at the Salon, we think we can address the questions many of you have, including how it works, and for those of you who are interested in quartz/mechanical hybrids, the question, “is it a Spring Drive?” The answer is both yes – and no. 1 OF 9 The good folks at Piaget must be mighty tired of hearing the words “Spring Drive” by now, although questions about parallel technology are fair. The 700P is indeed very close in most respects to the Seiko Spring Drive. Although there are some differences in execution,

Opportunity To Buy AP ROO Black Themes...Sorta Of
Hey all,I was presented an opportunity to buy the watch pictured below by a good friend of mine. A friend of his is selling it, along with the rest of his watch collection quick as he's going through a divorce and wants to sell them fast as he probably doesn't want his soon to be ex-wife getting any piece of them.Anyway, when I first saw a picture of it, I had thought it was a rubber clad (i'm still quite new to AP and have never owned one nor have I ever even had one in my hand. However, after seeing it in person, i realized that it was not a rubber clad due to it having a black dial with black sub dials. Naturally, it was the rubber bezel and rubber strap that initially made me think it was a rubber clad. My friend then mentioned that his friend had made a comment about the current owner having purchased it from a reputable Canadian grey market dealer (I did find some threads on TRF with quite a few people commenting on him being a standup seller) who replaced the original bezel (
Panerai I've never seen before
I recently saw one of my physicians wearing, what looks to be a panerai (pam312). But, it was a white dial and had a date magnifier. Any clue what it is???
