Rose Gold 44 question
After the SIHH release of the new rose gold 44, many people said they prefer the 'older' dial.I tend to agree as it looks cleaner to me and less busy. That being said, why has the market softened on the original RG 44's? IMO, it's probably one of the most interesting sport watches on the market.Economy is doing well, rose gold still in favor, size is still attractive..?
Crazy experience I had with an AP owner at airport
I just had to share this. So I am waiting in line ready to board a flight with my wife and kids. The guy in front of me is wearing a really shiny silver 44mm ROO. So I wait to asking in as it has a blue rubber strap if that is the SS navy. His eyes light up and says no, but I have one at home as well. So I comment as I noticed how shiny and bright it looks. He looks at my wrist and sees I am wearing my DSSD, he then asks me if I want to try it on. Sure, he takes it off and I hand him my Rolex. I am holding it and comment how heavy it is for a stainless steel, and mention I have had SS AP before and it didn't feel like that. He says no, it's not SS, I then looked up at him and I said, holy crap, this is the platinum. What a really cool and nice guy, he says rarely anyone notices the watch and he was super excited to meet someone who loved watches. Crazy nice things happen in WIS land. Omegas London 2012 Countdown Clock Stops Working 499 Days Early
ouch! Omega's London 2012 Countdown Clock Stops Working 499 Days Early2011-03-15 17:52:22.378 GMTBy Danielle Rossingh March 15 (Bloomberg) -- A giant digital clock counting down to the London 2012 Olympics built on Trafalgar Square by Swiss luxury watch maker Omega has stopped working 499 days too early. The steel countdown clock had been unveiled yesterday to mark 500 days before the opening ceremony on July 27 by London Mayor Boris Johnson, chairman of the London organizing committee Sebastian Coe and four British Olympic gold medalists. Today, the 6.5 meter (21-foot) high clock stopped working at 500 days, 7 hours, 6 minutes, 56 seconds. Omega is the official timekeeper of the Games. We are obviously disappointed that the clock has suffered this technical issue, Omega said in an e-mailed statement. The clock had been fully tested before being installed on the square in central London, it added. Omega, which is owned by the world's biggest watchmaker Swatch G
Is the current Patek collection their best ever
Hi guys, for the purpose of the poll this is asking about the watches only. So if you can, please ignore any other aspects of the brand, eg pricing, servicing, QC, production volumes, the number of iterations of the 5270 etc. I'm saying Yes. I had a look at a brochure from 2006 as I needed a benchmark and I wanted to compare to an era when Philippe was still president. In my personal opinion over the last nearly 10 years, the current collection has become much more appealing. Some of my favourites we have now which did not have a direct equivalent from the 2006 brochure: 5711 (although released late 2006 it's not in the brochure), 5980, 5990, 5164, 5235, 5131, 5370, 5208, 5205, 5227. The tricky middle ground where we have similar watches then and now. My view on some of these masterpieces:5970 v 5270. My vote is the modern 5270, post Basel 2015. 5004 v 5204. I'm going modern again if for nothing else than the more contemporary size. 5070 v 5170. It has to be the classic 5070. Will this
incoming 'settling' on 116520
had been on the hunt for 116508 full black dial for awhile, but this one happened to stumble by. had been eyeing this in parallel but was hoping to close on the YG version...so 'settled' for this instead VERY pleased with this piece.116508 will still be a goal down the line...but i'd say the SS white dial a damn good layover. (shout out to seller roadie1 - was a great pleasure to work with)
