HourTime Show Watch Podcast Episode 170: Geezers Need Excitement
For this episode, John and I predict what 2015 has in store for the world of watches. What will be popular? What will brands produce? And how might the current geo-economic climate effect the watch industry? We also laugh about poorly conceived names for watches and wasting the day shopping for watches online. Oh, and this crazy Confrerie Horlogere La Clef du Temps Tourbillon watch is mentioned along with some other crazy watches.Listen to the HourTime Show watch podcast episode 170 here.Direct MP3 download is here.
Perrelet Double Rotor Turbine Watch Collection
One of Perrelet's signature complications is offering various watches with two rotors - one on the back of the watch, and one on the front. After years of simply having the cool looking rotor oscillating on the face of watches, they started to get a bit more creative. The most recent iteration for a men's watch is this Turbine collection. Designed after the turbine on a jet engine, moving the watch around has the turbine vanes spinning as though the watch was about to take off.Other companies and played with this concept as a propeller, but Perrelet is taking it to the next level with the jet engine look. Cleverly hidden in the rear of the vanes are weights that help the assembly spin, but to the wearer's eye, everything look symmetrical. The turbine is crafted from 12 blades of titanium. Hidden between the spinning blades are luminous hour markers. To enhance legibility, the chapter ring of the dial includes minute markers and further hour indicators. The look is really sensational. Milus Herios TriRetrograde Seconds Skeleton Watch Give More To Stare At
This name is not uttered so easily, but the Milus Herios TriRetrograde Seconds Skeleton Watch is an instant classic. It even requires two full breaths to say the entire name, a quality that luxury watches seems to pride themselves on. This long titles does the Milus Herios Triretrograde Seconds Skeleton proud. A quick glance reveals a perfect square tank watch. The perimeter of the face has art-deco fashioned numerals running around a partially skeletionized view of the circular movement. No matter how square a watch is, that vast majority of movements inside these watches are round. Luckily, this movement features an automatic movement which winds the watch as you wear it. Many watches of this ilk possess manually wound watches for two reasons. One, the watch can be a bit thinner, and two, it provides unobstructed viewing of the movement which is at issue in a partially skeletonized watch. The decision to make this an automatic watch increases its everyday practicality, and thus the
Dare I?
So I stop by one of the AD in the mall the other day when this beauty caught my I. It's is discounted as they are having trouble moving the watch I guess but my question is why? According to the salesmen it has an older movement (not in-house movement) so my question is are the older omega movements reliable? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Top 3 Patek Basel 2017 Releases
Here's my humble list of my favorite pieces released:1. 5372P - I prefer the rose gold dial, gives it more of a vintage feel2. 5960G - While its odd that they decided to make this in white gold, like the 5524, I like it a lot better on a strap rather than a bracelet.3. 5168 - I'm sure this will be at the top of the list for others, but the aquanaut has never seemed very substantial to me, however the blue touch is nice.Big upset - 5170P. When I first saw it looked amazing until I noticed the diamond markers, what a bummer. Sword hands, that tachy scale and sunburst dial, this could have been huge, at least for me.I'd love to hear thoughts on favorites this year.
