Hands-On: The Breitling Transocean Chronograph 1915 Monopusher
Breitling has released several models commemorating vintage chronographs in the last few months – notably the Transocean Chronograph and the Chronoliner. After our initial coverage of Breitling’s new Transocean Chronograph 1915, many readers were curious of how it would handle in the metal. While updated in comparison to its vintage counterparts from which it draws inspiration, it is a modern offering with bygone flair.? 1 OF 6 The Transocean Chrono wears smaller than expected, but not that small (and I’m not slim-wristed). With a 43 mm diameter and at almost 15 mm thick, it’s a large watch. The lugs hug the wrist rather well, but not enough to completely counteract its presence. Still, it fits fine under a cuff and is surprisingly lighter than expected. 2 OF 6 While the Transocean commemorates Breitling’s first independent chronograph push-piece, I feel that this watch draws quite a bit of inspiration from the Breitling Premie
It Was All A Dream! - Jay-Z Royal Oak (Decisions)
Those that are into haute horogerie know that this game is very small so it is critical to always remain humble. One way or another the top guys are connected and they talk, a lot of these folks even lurk this very site and community we call TRF! Today I was presented with the opportunity to purchase the Jay-Z Royal Oak in SS which is limited to 50 pieces. There are four known pieces I am aware of... One is in Dubai, another is in Argentina, one is in Africa, and the other one is here in NY. I cannot discuss who opened their vault to me, however, what I saw today would make any AP collectors head spin. Truly a humbling experience! I will leave you with these pics while I ponder on my decision...
Seamaster Chronograph.
What do you guys think of this beauty? I love it! One of the best chronos out there IMO.616YYDJAVJL__SS500_.jpg
Thoughts of 5134? Also, thoughts on 5134g vs 5134p
I really want a dual zone watch but need a dress watch more than another casual watch, so leaning away from 5164. Does anyone own, or used to own, a 5134? I'm thinking of buying one from grey market but was hoping to get some feedback as I've never seen it in person. As a secondary question, for those that have seen both, which do you prefer, the 5134p (dauphine hands with skeleton home time hour hand) or the 5134g (traditional black Patek hands with white gold home time hour hand)? Thanks in advance!
A good day...
One of the things that I love about Patek is that they are nondescript. Chances are very few of us get asked is that a Patek? or how much does it cost? This generally suits me fine.Imagine my surprise today when an airline passenger (not first class) seated next to me says, excuse me but is that a Patek Calatrava? Wow. The fact that he knew it was a Patek much less a Calatrava was astonishing. Turns out he's interested in watches but doesn't have the resources to indulge himself in this hobby. He was wearing a very clean and obviously well cared for Seiko on strap. He isn't on watch forums but gets his knowledge from watch magazines and really knows his stuff. After a very pleasant hour discussing the merits of various watch topics (silicone hairsprings was an interesting conversation), he says, someday I'd love to try on a Patek as he doesn't live near an AD and has never visited one. Well what's a guy to do right? Would you like to try mine on? I let him wear my watch and he was spee
