Visit To Audemars Piguet Boutique in Singaore ( Pic Heavy )
As a follow-up to my previous thread, I finally visited the AP Singapore boutique yesterday with a fellow TRFer and took some pictures, as shown in this thread. The AP brand is relatively new to me, and I was primarily there to check out the Royal Oak 15202 and 15400. The boutique The Watches on Display Checking out the Royal OaksI just love this bracelet! Trying out the Royal Oaks...They both looks nice. And a few ROOs......... ... Nope, not for me. I simply don't have the wrist size to pull this off. My Rolex Explorer attempting to steal the show. My Two Cents... Overall an enjoyable visit. The boutique is a bit on the small side, and kind of hide in a corner. Thought AP should have chosen a better locality. But the displays are well lid. Both the Royal Oak 15400 and 15202 are masterpieces, work of art. Seeing it in person for the first time, no wonder so many WISers and members of this forum go ga-ga over them. To me, the best part of the watch is the bracelet and case. The way the
New Omegas
I was in the Omega boutique last week and got a chance to handle the new Planet Ocean GMT. It was a very beautiful watch in person, waaaay better than the pictures. I didn't expect to see it but the orange on the bezel caught my eye so I asked to hold it. I must say the orange bezel looks a lot better in person and the orange hand is painted the same as the orange material of the orange numbers of the POs, so it's very brilliant and beautiful. The bezel turns both ways and the black date wheel which looks incredibly odd and stands out in close up pictures of the dial looks just fine. It has a look as to sort of simulate that the white numbers kind of pop out from a shaded background. It didn't bother me at all the way it does in internet photos. Now that Basel is history we see that it's available in all the normal colors also, this watch will be pretty hot also. The biggest turn off for me is the thickness, still too thick. If it were my only big watch then I wouldn't mind, but having to
Fly away with me....
Incoming! As today I took home the loved/hated ref. 5522A! A pilot's watch: easy to read, large, simple, utilitarian. My first impressions are that it's a great looking, casual, sports watch in a large case. The simplicity of it and the lightness of its steel case are it's trademarks. I attended the patek NY exhibition with some forum members and good friends and it's a great keepsake to remember a special summer and wonderful event by a brand that many of us are very passionate about. A steel time only Patek is not something we will see very often and less so in a modern (yet vintage vibe) interpretation. Be well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Calatrava tougher then you think....
Although I wouldn't subject it to the abuse a Rolex Sub or Speedy pro can take, in the month since I received my 5296 it has been subject to the following.1. Showing off in front of my wife on a carnival high striker with a mallet hammer.. I forgot the watch was on my wrist....2. Being swept off my night table by our Cat....part one....3. Being swept off my night table by our Cat.....part twoFirst fall was from a three foot height on to a rug with a thick padding beneath it.Second fall was a little more serious as it resulted in light scratches on the 9:00 side of the case.... 98 percent of which were taken off by a cape cod cloth. The remainder can wait for a visit to Patek. The watch still runs at plus 5 a day as it did the day it came home from the AD.I don't recommend this treatment on a regular basis ( The Patek now sleeps in my pocket square and golf sock drawer in order to escape the Cat..) but it is good to know these watches are not as fragile as a lot of us think.
New straps for my 422
Picked up some new straps from Aaron Bespoke in Montreal for the 422. His work is top notch.
