Only Watch Auction 2013 Preview: 5 Unique Timepieces
The fifth edition of Only Watch, the charity timepiece auction held biannually in Monaco, takes place on September 28, and news and photos of several of the one-of-a-kind watches to be auctioned off have started to be released, including models from Breguet, Harry Winston, Girard-Perregaux, Laurent Ferrier, and Piaget.Held at Monaco’s Heritage Hotel under the patronage of HRH Prince Albert II, the Antiquorum-sponsored Only Watch auction raises funds for Duchenne muscular dystrophy research, using the proceeds from the sale of unique or first-in-a-series watches made by prestigious brands. This year, 33 brands have contributed watches, including the five unique pieces below, whose images and details are among the first to be provided to WatchTime. The Breguet Classique Chronograph Openworked 5284 has an 18k yellow gold case with fine fluting on the caseband that echoes the earliest timepieces made by brand namesake Abraham-Louis Breguet. AP RO strap conversion question
So I've read thru a number of threads about adding a strap to your RO and the options. Here's what I've done and my questions.I have the RO Day and Date, which I love by the way! Bought the conversion kit from APBands along with a black strap. The plots took a lot of coercion to get in and that made me quite nervous but worked in the end. The strap I received looks great from a distance but the quality is not what I'd like. Also, the deployant buckle doesn't really work, doesn't match the watch closely, etc. Net - I want something more fitting for the watch.I spoke to the AP boutique in NYC and they can sell me the following:- black alligator strap w/ white stitch (spc order) 26.5 / 18 (I believe these are the rt dimensions per another thread)- SS deployant buckle They have told me they do NOT sell plots for the RO, presumably b/c they come with the watches that OEM straps are made for (precious metals). They also said they do NOT sell a rubber strap for the RO. The guy on the
Breitling Hand Discoloration??
I just picked up a Titanium Seawolf from ~2007 from the original owner, and it appears that the minute has a very slight yellow-hue to it compared to the white of the hour and second hands. Is this common/early patina? I've been searching for pics of other Ti Seawolfs and in some pics, some hands look discolored but it is hard to tell with lighting, etc. It's starting to bother me at this point - what are my options for obtaining a replacement? I hope I don't have to send it into BUSA for a service :-/Thanks for your input. Otherwise, awesome watch. The Ti makes this my most comfortable watch despite it being by far my largest!!
What should I get?
Hi Guys. Good Morning. What Patek should I get next? I have a 5711,5522A, and a 40mm day date. I think I want a 5167-A but not 100 percent sure. What do you guys think? ty
A Long "A-Whited" Incoming (the wait/white is over)
The white is over, Finally my long awaited white 5711 incoming...I would say definitely one of my affordable grail watches (relatively speaking..lol)I just love love love the look of finely polished stainless steel white luxury watches for the summer which here in Florida is most of the year.I owned the white 116520 white twice mainly because I loved that cleanwhite look on a sports watch. It really elevates my mood and lifts my spirit more than any other dial color.I had a brief honeymoon with the 5711 blue, which I rank as one of my biggestwatch mistakes for letting it go (considering I got at an AD for retail), but today I feel vindicated, because I like the look of the white even better! And it is so much nicer in person. It's hard to do justice with pictures, but I feel I captured a glimpse of its beauty with the images below. The finishing and polishing is just so sublime at how it catches and plays with light. The dial also dances and scintillates with with sun... Enjoy Driving
