Bulgari's Bold Move To Integrate With Daniel Roth & Gerald Genta
The pursuit continued of life in the house of troubled luxury brand has a method. Bulgari has recently announced news that should be considered uncommon at the least. In a strange move that I would have never predicted, the Bulgari brand actually eats two other brands that it already owns. The result will be a unified brand in image and manufacture, such that each watch coming from the super brand will have the name "Bvlgari" (Bulgari" as I care to say it) on each watch that is released. A hint in the form of an image depicts a potential result of this "new way" where Bvlgari is seen as the originator, presenting a Gerald Genta timepiece. Why has the event come to pass? It is more than merely a complex branding and marketing exercise. The fact is that each watch brand in the past was more or less independent. With its individual manufacturing, design, marketing, and sales arms. This redundant system works if each brand is truly independent, but being under common ownership, a more effic
Forced Patina on Bronze Watches: A How To
Bronze watches are increasing in popularity by the day; a trend we are wholeheartedly supporters of. Bronze watches (sometimes brass, and of varying alloys) integrate really well into a watch collection. Usually of the tool watch variety, the warm metal hints at gold, but has a toughness to it that is altogether unique. For a few great examples of bronze watches, check out our reviews of the Archimede Pilot, Halios Tropik B, Ancon Tank, Maranez Layan and our look at the Makara Octopus Prototype.Part of what makes the metal so unique, and popular, is that it patinas over time. The metal oxidizes, creating a layer of brown, green and black marks that give each watch a distinct look. The darkening color and random nature of the patina adds to the rugged look of the metal, and the slow change and distinct wear speaks to the owner's life and style. The patina itself is actually protecting the metal, preventing corrosion, which is why bronze is often associated with marine equipment. Now pat
TAG Heuer Will Relaunch The Autavia In 2017 C And Fans Get To Choose The Model
Have you ever caught yourself staying up way, way too late, looking at vintage watches online and wishing they would make a return to the market? I know I have – and a long time before my job made it acceptable. Well if you’re part of that club, there’s good news on the way from TAG Heuer. 1 OF 17 Following a conversation with Jeff Stein at On The Dash – a must read for vintage Heuer fans – TAG Heuer has announced a campaign asking the public which vintage Autavia chronograph they want to see re-launched in 2017. A racer’s watch, developed in the 1960s, it’s one of the Heuer's “Big Three,” along with the Carrera and the Monaco, and both reference 2446 and reference 3646 have been gaining momentum in the secondhand market. Born in 1962, the Autavia Chronograph is named after a series of “Automobile” and “Aviation” dashboard timekeepers launched 30 years prior. Made for ra

So I think I'm about to move my diver and IWC BP to a good friend and use the $$ to scratch my itch for the Bee. The deal is pretty much a wash in regards to cash with no significant outlay on my part nor is there any $$ coming back my way.Pulling the trigger would leave me with my Panda (have both strap and bracelet for it) and the Bee as my two main watches. I have another special piece that does not get much wear but is very sentimental to me.Am I about to make a mistake ? My fear is that this transaction will leave me with very little diversity and two almost identical watches. And I'm a bit concerned about the lack of weight of the Bee....always used to having a heavy watch on the wrist. The diver is great as its very versatile. On the other hand I do love the Panda and have lusted after the Bee since its release and I dont wear the BP much. And even though both Panda and the Bee have the same DNA, they are VERY different in their looks, case make up, etc....Any input is welc
