The Nivrel Shark Sea Tourbillon Is A Rare Tourbillon In A Sea Of Glamour
We know that tourbillon watches are expensive. The complex little movements are at a premium based on the difficultly of manufacture and the prestige of owning one. The bar has been set pretty high with all variations of multi axis tourbillons and flying tourbillons that give a great view of the action. What ever happened to just the basic tourbillon? Because more tourbillon watches go for $50k and up, the proprietors of such luxuries feel the need to spruce them up with lots of gilding and fancy appointments to justify the prices. Basel 2014 makes me thankful for the good old days (watches)
Nothing in the Omega lineup has the appeal of this 95 year old cal. 26.5 beauty:Or this 64 year old cal. 332 bumper automatic:More recently, we have the predecessor of the co-axial AT, the Seamaster 120m from 1998:with its reliable pre-coaxial Omega 1120 (ETA 2892-A2) movement and a case only 8mm thick. After 16 years and one servicing, it remains the most accurate watch in my collection. (Yes, the dial is misprinted with Speedmaster - one of five known examples.)
My new to me Patek 5035 Annual Calendar
My last purchase for 2016 thank God. It's been a hard year on the bank account. On a serious note I hope everybody can at least try one of these absolutely beautiful and elegant pieces in the collection at least one point in time in their life. I am blessed to have found this excellent example of the Patek 5035 Annual Calendar. It came complete with box and papers and all original books. This thing looks brand-new. I hope you guys like it.
