The Sj?? Sandstr?m Royal Capital Is The Latest Luxury Watch From Sweden
When it comes to new watch brands on the market, we often encounter a lack of transparency with regards to the origin of the movement (for instance, a low-cost quartz ticker). If the new brand manages to pick up a mechanical movement of some sort, they still might bury it in the information, almost as if they are ashamed they have not created their own. With the new Sj?? Sandstr?m Royal Capital watch, things are definitely a bit different, in that regard. For starters, let us talk about Sj?? Sandstr?m. They are a Swedish company (not too many watches coming from there as of late), with roots going back to 1986. It was then that two engineers, Christer Sj?? and Mikael Sandstr?m, came together over a love of watches. Their first effort was an automatic piece produced in 1993, and a worldtimer introduced in 1997. Now, in 2014, they're introducing the Sj?? Sandstr?m Royal Capital, a new watch with an interesting movement. As I mentioned at the start, many new brands try to hide where the mov
In-Depth: A Critical Look At The A. Lange & S?hne Grand Complication
When the A. Lange & Söhne Grand Complication was first announced at SIHH 2013 it got the entire watch industry's attention – as you would expect an extremely complex, 50mm diameter, $2.6 million watch to do – though only a handful of people were able to actually see the watch in person. Large scale models and official press photos had to suffice for most. But a few weeks ago a prototype Grand Complication made its way to New York City and we sat down with CEO Wilhelm Schmid and Director of Product Development Anthony de Haas to get a closer look at exactly what this astounding watch means for the future of A. Lange & Söhne. Introduction 1 OF 28 A. Lange & S?hne Grand Complication While most "concept watches" are made in one or two examples and never available commercially, Lange decided to do something different here. There will be two prototypes held onto by the manufacture and six numbered pieces available for
The SMP clasp is something special
I noticed that the clasp on my SMP is really heavy duty. The clasp is thick and the buckle is meaty. The divers extension link is also sturdy, who else has noticed that this is one hell of a watch.
My Grail Omega 321
Hello Folks i want to share with you some info about my Grail Omega 321 the serial number is Only 49 Watches Away From Neil Armstrong's, this Omega Speedmaster is as Moon-ish As It You may know that Tuesday, July 20 will mark 41 years since man first walked on the moon. Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins all used Omega Speedmasters on their Apollo 11 flight, as we've told you many times. When Neil and Buzz took the lunar module down the surface, Neil left his Speedy on board because the mission timer in the module had failed, while Buzz wore his Speedy to the surface of the moon. After returning to earth, Buzz mailed his Speedy to the Smithsonian, but it was unfortunately lost or stolen in transit, never having surfaced to this day. Keep your eyes open for it!We do, however, know the reference and serial numbers of Neil's Speedy, which is in the collection of the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum: reference number 105.012-65 (the first asymmetric Speedy case with crown-gua
