Letters To The Editor: How Modern Watchmakers Are Grappling With One Of Breguet's Greatest Inventions (And It's Not The Tourbillon)
This is a wonderful question, that deserves a careful response. Before we can talk about the natural escapement, let's get on the same page about what an escapement does. In a mechanical wristwatch, an escapement translates rotational energy into lateral impulses that is, it turns the rotating of gears into the back-and-forth movement of the balance wheel. There are lots of different types of escapements, but the most popular (by far) is the lever escapement. Would you flip an Omega Moonwatch for Tudor BB?
Hi guys,I used to have a dozen of watches but last year I have consolidated my collections to just 3.Right now, I have 116610, 116710 and an Omega Moonwatch - The first Watch Worn on the Moon.Recently, my Omega has not been getting sunshine and thinking of flipping it and get a Tudor BB Chrome or soon to be released BB fifty eight (if available). In terms of value in the long run (not referring to $$), which one would be more 'coveted', Moonwatch or BB58? Thanks for the inputs.
