Vintage Banana .....
I have started collecting vintage watches other than vintage rolex and vintage tudor for quite some time. Especially for vintage diver watches, I have just found these vintage diver watches are very interesting. I have bought this Japanese book and it is a very good reference for a wide variety of both vintage and contemporary diver watches. Other than that, .scubawatch.org is a very good reference as well.Since then, I have collected vintage Seiko divers 150m ref : 6105 8110, and 300m ref : 6159-7000 ; Eterna Kontiki Super ; Longines Nonius ref : 8225 ; and Tudor BC 7924.Seiko 150m (6105-8110)Seiko 300m (6159-7000)Eterna kontiki superLongines Nonius (8225)Tudor BC (7924)This time, I have found this vintage diver with exotic dial and iconic sword type military hands, omega seamaster 200 ref : 166.068 which was produced in around 1970. Because of colorful exotic dial with the yellow color as the key tone, it is also banana seamaster. [pic borrowed]In additional to its exotic dial
Rolex with a leather strap
I have stumbled upon something that I can't seem to learn about via research online.I need the help from TRF experts :)I have understood that some Rolex watch cases destroy two-piece leather straps because they have a sharp edge or a sharp groove in the case. Some examples are 6 digit Subs and GMTs.I am talking about just buying a two-piece leather strap and putting it on.NOT a two-piece strap with CURVED ends or CURVED spring bars.NOT a two piece strap in which you leave the END LINKS on, or buy special end links.Just buy a traditional leather two-piece strap, take off your bracelet and end links, put the strap on and that's it.Apparently, some watch cases destroy such straps.I am very curious about this. I used to think it was only 6 digit subs or GMTs, but apparently 5 digit subs and GMTs do this to.Which Rolex watches do this and which ones don't?What do I look for in a watch, when I am shopping for one that won't destroy a traditional leather strap, without having to take off the b

Watches on sale as bnib but way less than msrp
One question been puzzling me. I see lots of bnib watches for sale at way less than mrsp eg 116619lb PM Smurf on sale for $26k a few weeks old when the msrp is over $36k. Plus lots of others that are less than cost. Who is taking the hit on these if they are sold at cost - and if not how can the trusted sellers make cash on them ??
