Knights of Gold: Roger Dubuis Excalibur Roundtable
With another season of HBO’s medieval fantasy drama “Game of Thrones” currently airing, it seems an appropriate time to revisit a timepiece from Roger Dubuis‘s flagship Excalibur collection, the Roger Dubuis Excalibur Round Table, a limited-edition model distinguished by its 12 sculptural “knights” stationed at each hour marker.Introduced at SIHH 2013 in Geneva, the watch depicts a scene from the legend of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table, the inspiration for the Excalibur family. Its colorful dial, whose design comes from a reproduction of the Arthurian Round Table made for King Henry VIII and placed in the Grand Hall of his castle in Winchester, is made of grand feu enamel. Arranged in a circle around the “table,” replacing each of the traditional hour markers, are 12 three-dimensional knight figures, cast in gold, with their fine details carved by hand, each only 7 mm tall (as in, small enough to fit under a shirt cuff).
Silicone balance spring
This should be good for a laugh,,,,,,I went to an Omega Dealer yesterday to look at a Planet Ocean and the salesman told me that one of the features of the co-axial movement was the silicone rubber balance spring, and when I asked if he meant silicone rubber, not silicon steel,he said yes and also that it was non magnetic.I didn`t try to correct him seeing as we were getting along fine up until that moment so I ignored his statement and it wasn`t until I got home several hours later that I remembered it and burst out laughing.I think that has to be a new record for absurdity and misinformation from salestaff.
5130p vs. 5146p
These two references have gotten some nice attention recently. If you were to pick one of the two in platinum, which would you choose? Thanks in advance. Pics borrowed from the interweb:
Patek meets Rolls-Royce
At a wedding yesterday...
Another day at the pool, and it had to be blue!
Another weekend, and another swimming gala for my daughter. Sadly, we are not at the Gold Coast (yet) and Fenton, Stoke on Trent, doesn't quite have the same ring does it? Anyway, had to be a blue Skydweller with Oz set as the second time zone in the hope that one day, who knows?Sent from my LG-H870DS using Tapatalk
