A Week On The Wrist: The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver
100 feet underwater isn't the best place to start wondering if you’ve properly screwed the crowns on a $17,100 mechanical timepiece. I had double- and triple-checked the seals and springbars back on land, while suiting up for a dive on the Hilma Hooker wreck in Bonaire, but just to be sure, I gave them another twist. I descended the sloping reef to the capsized ship, a freighter that sank in 100 feet of water not long after it was seized by authorities who had discovered 25,000 pounds of marijuana hidden aboard. Along with me was no ordinary dive watch - this was the Royal Oak Offshore Diver, the 2010 release from vaunted Le Brassus manufacture Audemars Piguet, with the lovely automatic calibre 3120 inside. It would be a crime against horology to flood this baby.The Royal Oak Version 2.0The ROO Diver represents a milestone for AP, just like the original Royal Oak did 39 years ago. Introduced in 1972 with the help of Gerald Genta it was the first true luxury sports watch, a st

Post AP Boutique;
AMAZING place. Derek helped me for 45 minutes as I was drooling over everything. Got to try on everything I planned to. The bumble bee I ended up trying on at Wempe because the boutique didn't have one in. They did have a gorgeous 57th lmt Ed. Watch. I have been fully sold on the 44mm ROOC CF. Wow. Wow. Wow. Never seen or held anything like it. Next each to get!!!
Vintage Seamaster help
A buddy of mine called asking for my opinion on this 1952 SS Seamaster w. a waffle dial. Watch looks fantastic based on the pictures, but my knowledge of Omega doesn't go back as far as the early 50s. Wondering if anyone on here can help me help him. Thanks, TRF friends. Online description: Omega SS Seamaster ref 2766-1 movement serial # 13.8 million circa 1952. 33.5 X 42mm case with wide bezel and heavy lugs, with original black waffle dial with gold applied arrowhead indexes and tapered gilt hands. Self winding calibre 344 movement with subsidiary seconds. With original faceted Omega crown. Offered on your choice of fine or distressed strap.
How accurate is your watch?
I have just purchased a submariner and am very pleased with it so far.I have a question about accuracy though. I recently noticed that it is gaining about 5 secs per day. Is this normal? I had assumed that any time loss would be much smaller. Am I barking mad or is my watch dodgy?Many thanksJay
