Zenith Pilot Type 20 Grand Feu Watch: Engraved White Gold + Sapphire Crystal Case
For 2014,?Zenith will release a most unusual timepiece under their "new" pilot watch range known as the Pilot Type 20 Grand Feu. In a nutshell, this is a highly ornate version of the Zenith Pilot Montre d'Aronef Type 20 watch that was released in 2012. Using a historic Zenith movement known as the caliber 5011, Zenith produced a massive pilot-style watch with a cool movement, and as experimental as it wasC the watch proved to be a big hit.Over the last two years, Zenith has been pouring a lot of effort into their Pilot Type 20 watches and that continues into 2014. Easily the most unique model is this Pilot Type 20 Grand Feu. Often times, line extension models are more or less predictable. That means when we see a new or updated model, the changes or additions make sense, or were something we saw coming. In the case of the Grand Feu, with its enamel dial or engraved white gold bezel and lugs, I can easily say that I had no idea this was on its way to our inbox.First, some semantic chan
AP vs Richard Mille
Anyone watching the French Open Finals today? I see Nadal wearing his RM but can't tell the model, only that it has a red strap, anyone know which model it is?Guess Djokovic usually doesn't wear his AP during the match.Should be a great match-up!
Need help with Seamaster History
Been on TRF for awhile, mostly in the Rolex forums, but I recently saw a sweet looking Seamaster Pro Automatic yesterday and I'm not exactly sure what model it is.It looked similar to the 2220.80, but I know it was a previous model. I know for a fact it was not Co-Axial, it was just said Chronometer on the dial.Is there a really good website that will provide history and photos of all of the previous Seamaster Pro 300M models? Thanks in advance for your help!
I think I found the only new blue 5711 in the country!
Forgive the length of my first (!) post, it's been a long time in the making:After years and years of wandering through the hinterland of watch collecting, I have finally decided to jump into the deep end of the pool. I, like many here on this forum, have been through more watches than I care to count, yet few have held my interest for long. My biggest issue has been comfort -- I cannot wear a watch, no matter how iconic or desirable, that doesn't feel like it disappears on my wrist. I bought a SubC, sold it in a few months. I'e been through the big watch phase of Bell&Ross and Panerai, only to be disappointed. I found an AP 15300, but the bracelet, although beautiful, just didn't work for me and it, too, was sold. On a whim, I tried on a white 5711 at my local AD (more than I thought I'd ever actually spend, but we know how that goes) and was struck by the slinky bracelet and lightness of the watch, which fit like a glove. But I really wanted the blue. Thus began the infuri
Would you buy a SS Model from an AD at a premium?
So I popped into the AD that I bought my BLNR last year. This is an AD in a small town in India. They had one yachtmaster and a white dial milguass in stock. I asked the owner about the availability of a Sub date, Sub no date, BLNR, ceramic daytona and blue dial SS Sky-D. He mentioned all available for order with delivery in 2 days. The prices he gave me are similar to TRF seller markups currently. For e.g. for the Ceramic daytona and Blue SS Sky-D, he is asking approx $18.9K each. The warranty card would be in my name and dated on date of sale. He is asking $10.6K for the BLNR.So my question to you all is - would you do it? I am torn, I want one of each of the white dial daytona and the blue sky-d but i can't get myself to pay over MSRP for a mass produced product.
