How The Most Popular Watches Can Be Recognized By Just Their Hands
I have a theory that I would like to test regarding the importance of watch hands in the world's most popular watches. As many regular watches-dealer readers know, I am particularly attentive to the design and construction of the hands on a watch's face. I believe hands to be the most important element of a watch dial, and my theory is that if you were able to take the hands off the faces of the most popular and well-designed watches, you would still be able to recognize them with ease. There are many very high quality watch designers that participate in the design of today's new timepieces. Unfortunately, there are also many very poor designers. "Poor" in regard to their ability to design a proper watch dial that is both attractive and legible. The reason for this less than exemplary grade has much do with how they prioritize the design of watch hands. I posit that now and forever the design of a "good" watch dial begins with the hands. You might find it interesting that many novice and
Ebel Classic Hexagon GMT Rose Gold Watch: Two Times Done Well
The last few years have been a bit of a revitalization period for Swiss Ebel watches. The prominent brand was growing a bit staid, and it needed some new exciting watches, especially men's watches. So it brushed the dust off of it's classic hexagon case (you know, it roughly has six sides), and started releasing some new models. The new and larger watches are typified by the case shape and five screws, often with then faceted hands. The good looks of the watches combined with some serious marketing efforts have really helped Ebel out. One of the things that I really like about their designs is the simplicity. A few of the watches are a bit more "out there" in appeal, but this Classic Hexagon GMT watch really epitomizes simple good looks. Seeing the watch itself is the true convincing element to appreciating the timepiece. The case is slightly rounded not to look flat, and the size of the larger version is impressive. Further, the polish and finish (bezel and much of the face are polish
Introducing: The TAG Heuer Carrera Heuer-02T, The Most Affordable Swiss-Made Tourbillon Chronograph
Since his self-appointment at the head of TAG Heuer, Jean-Claude Biver has been adamant about the brand’s position in the market: it should be the gateway brand into the world of luxury watchmaking. A year later, the company launched the watch that would help him achieve his goal. The Carrera Heuer-01 would be to TAG Heuer what the Big Bang had been to Hublot: a modern flagship, made with contemporary materials, capable of housing any and all complications. Already, TAG Heuer is showing the versatility of its new pillar. A few months after the release of its new chronograph, TAG has announced plans to release a tourbillon chronograph that borrows the case design of the Carrera Heuer-01. And the big news is its incredible price point. At $15,950, the Carrera Heuer-02T is, quite simply, the most affordable Swiss-made tourbillon chronograph available on the market. 1 OF 4 In fact, it is roughly ten times cheaper than the similarly made Bell & Ross BR-X1 Chro
3 out of 4 watches will be AP... Is that crazy?
Ok so I was thinking about buying another watch and that happens to be an AP ......if I go ahead with it, 3 out of 4 watches will be AP... is that a bit crazy? Are there more ppl out there whose 90% watch collection consists of APs?Currently I have a 15400 SS, 26320 RG on strap... and the one I'm eyeing is the new 44 rose gold novelty ROO
Looking for advice on the best way to buy used
I've been lurking around this forum for years lusting over the various watches in Rolex's line. After many years, I've finally settled in on the one watch I want, the 39mm Explorer I.Specifically, I want the current version that was updated in 2016. Looking at Rolex's site, the current MSRP is $6,550. I know there is room to negotiate with AD's. I understand your mileage may vary here depending on the AD and the model in question (for example, no one is giving any discounts on Subs). That said, I've seen many example of discounts in the 10-12% range. I don't think the Explorer I is a hot watch, so I don't think it would be outside the realm of possibility to get a 10% discount from an AD, which would put the cost at $5,895.I've got two questions specific to trying to purchase this watch used:1) I know there are many trusted sellers here on this forum. That said, I don't typically see many used Explorer I's posted, especially those that are the newest version. Can you proactivel
