Technology today has changed how we do a large number of things. Think back to just ten years ago, before true smartphones, and the limited capacity our mobile devices had. Remember back when minutes were the big thing that the carriers got you on? Evening and weekend minutes ring any bells? That way of thinking has shifted and now minutes are a non-commodity where data is now king. Our banking has changed, how we find places and get to them. All have come about at an amazing pace. Even shopping has largely changed, with the ability to quickly make a purchase from your smartphone and have it on your doorstep in two days, or the next day if you so desire (and in some markets even the same day!).One area where technology has not yet made that big of a change is in the ability to try before you buy. Super jubilee discontinued. Why?
When Rolex released the new Datejust 36 this year at Baselworld much to my disgust they have decided on using a sporty oyster clasp on the jubilee bracelet just like the DJ 41 and new jubilee GMT Pepsi and are phasing out the beautiful super jubilee. Why oh why are they making dress watches with sports watch clasps on them it baffles me and makes them look worse IMO. In my mind a Datejust jubilee should have a beautiful continuous bracelet just like the presidential. So I've been wanting a Datejust 36 for many years now and because of Baselworld and those new TT DJ's with that new clasp I decided I needed to get myself a super jubilee before the SS ones are updated next year. So yesterday I went to my local AD in the UK and purchased a stainless steel and fluted bezel 116234. The salesperson told me this is the last one they have and they have now been discontinued already! Buying spring bars from Rolex
I went to Rolex Vancouver with the intention of purchasing spring bars for my 116610 and 116710. It's not that I needed those I just wanted to stock up just in case.The guy I was talking to said they dont have stocks and have to be ordered, which is fine. But I find it odd he was asking for serial nos. I gave him the model as I thought he had to order based on the model. He insisted for the serial nos and said they can't place an order without the serial number.Also the price he gave is CAD$60++ for a pair of spring bar and have to pay shipping of CAD$40++ for a total of $100 for pair.Do you have the same experience when buying spring bars at Rolex?Maybe because am not their valued customer?!
