Rolex Begins Using Silicon "Syloxi" Hairsprings In Caliber 2236
Rolex has been one of the most interesting brands to reveal new things here at Baselworld 2014 - but only if you look really closely. Sure the new Sea-Dweller and "Pepsi bezel" GMT-Master II are lovely looking, but in my opinion the most interesting items of news are found in the minor details which are part of the new watches. For instance, almost hidden as part of a ladies watch is a new piece of Rolex technology known as Syloxi �C which is essentially a silicon (silicium) hairspring.Yes, that is right: for 2014, Rolex has begun to use silicon hairsprings, a technology that they have been working on for over a decade, but have only now decided to incorporate into a watch. It was only several years ago, in the year 2000, that Rolex introduced their "paramagnetic" Parachrom hairspring that is an exotic alloy of metals. 15400 & 26320 both in a collection?
So I now own both a 15400 & 26320 as 2 of my 3 watch collection. The 15400 is a steel with bracelet & blue dial while the 26320 is a rose gold white dial on strap. Pictures attached. (Sorry no picture of my 15400 on my iPad)A lot of non wiz have been asking me why I have the same watch (although technically it's not the same) in steel and the other in rose gold, and it's kinda gotten into my head. I'm thinking mayb I'll just get tired of looking at the AP genta hexagon design and I should flip my 15400 for some other steel (havnt thought which one yet). What do you guys think? Are there others out there who own a 15400 And a 26320 as well? What are your thoughts?

Can an Omega last a lifetime?
Ladies / Gents, A thread popped up on this (or another site!) regarding an individual being told Omega could not service/fix his Omega watch after the 4th service?? If say, you service the Omega every 3-5 years that would be 12-20years lifespan of an Omega??? I intend to buy a watch which will last a lifetime....hopefully with another good 40years+ to go in me!!! Anyone give me their non 'Omega-is-the-best' opinion/knowledge if infact Omega's can last a lifetime if serviced properly? (I have posted this on the Rolex discussion board to to get unbiased advice before I narrow down Rolex or Omega AND then once I have done that wether Sub No Date or Planet Ocean Big/LM). Tried on the Daytone TT with Champagner Dial
Hi guys,I'm on the waiting list for my first Rolex, the 116500ln with the white dial - still got around 4 months to go. Already got two IWC's but in the past months, Rolex really grabbed my attention after reading into its history, achievements and current manufacturing quality. Anyway, being used to bigger sizes (42-43 mm), I feared the small wearing Daytona (38.6mm) would be too small for me. So I decided to try on a TT at the Rolex boutique as the TT has the same case dimensions as the DaytonaC. They had the TT with the champagne dial which at first looked a bit girly to me. But as soon as I had it on my wrist, I somehow really liked the way it looked - size AND color combination!So now I'm debating between getting the DaytonaC or the TT.. Best would be to get both :)
