Watches NEWS
New combo
Just picked up a new rubber bracelet from my local Omega boutique. Think it matches pretty well. IMG_1124.jpg
Incoming from APNY
After following texex91's recent experience with the APNY boutique, I decided to call last week to see what they had in stock since I was in NY over the holiday weekend. To my surprise they had all three references I was considering: the 15202ST, FC Diver, and Ceramic Diver. Before seeing any of these watches in the flesh, my practical side had decided on the 15202ST and my young/reckless side had decided on the FC Diver. I had expected a difficult decision-making process, but a clear winner quickly emerged. Any guesses as to which will be at my door in the morning?
Turned off by Bond-related marketing
Am I the only one? Companies have to advertise, but the blunt product placement in the movie and association of a product with a fictitious character make me cringe. Sorry, Omega, I won't be buying your Bond's choice any time soon.By the way, I am not an Omega basher by any means. Love my Speedy.
SD from 2003 and water
All,I have a SD from 2003 that is in my regular rotation. I'm heading out on spring break and was planning on taking it along. I'm not planning on diving, just swimming and fishing in the ocean. I've never had the watch serviced and it keep perfect time. I searched the forum and it looks like I should be concerned about the gaskets being dried out and it might leak. I don't have time to pressure test it before leaving for the trip. What are your thoughts about swimming with it?TIA
Kids are funny
A few months back, my wife and I took our 10yr old son with us to our local Jeweler /AD to get a necklace fixed. Instead of my son following his mother to the jewelry counter, he walked over to the Rolex display and picked out what appeared to be a two tone woman's Datejust... Not knowing, he was under the assumption that the smaller watches were made for kids. After shaking my head l, laughing, and saying no, He also told me that he had 5th grade school pictures coming up and he wanted to have one of his own to wear... Again, after laughing even harder, I had to tell him that he will have to earn his own one day, but for now he needs to stick with his digital Casio.... Some of the things we see and hear as parents are priceless, as is the perspective of a child.
