Keeping You On Time: Central Watch In New York City
Many trains and hubs have been built America, but in most places we don't use train stations like we used to. A major exception to this is Grand Central Station in New York City. Probably the most famous train station in the USA, Grand Central station is a piece of history, and an enduring testament to industrialized people moving.Trains also needed to be on time. Brands like Ball and Hamilton like to discuss their heritage in making "railroad" watches that were used to reliably keep trains running on schedule. Aside from train tracks, the second most important type of fixture in a station are the clocks. Time is inherently linked to train stations, and checking your watch to make sure you don't miss your train is part of the experience.Give this notion, and the simple fact that it was a good place to catch people on a daily basis, 60 years ago a small watch repair stand opened in Grand Central Terminal simply called Central Watch Band. Should I or shouldn't I? Would love your input...
Just heard back from our local APSC that a grey panda dial is available out of AP Switzerland for my 39mm rosegold ROC at a reasonable price. I absolutely love the grey panda dial, especially now that AP has introduced the panda dial on the 41mm stainless steel and rosegold 41mm ROCs.Problem is my wife loves the white dial because it's a decent match to her rosegold Rolex. What do you think? Should I pull the trigger on the grey dial?
Audemars Piguet Panda question
Hey guys - So about to pull the trig on this model - have a couple of questions...1. Is the bracelet of the ROO as comfortable as the RO? (I have a 15400) - I heard that the clasp on the H serial ROO isn't as comfortable?2. How does it wear on the wrist (for extended periods of time - on a bracelet) does it feel like a heavy watch or wear well?3. Any pics of an H serial or pics in general would be very much appreciated. Thanks everyone
Watch Demagnetizing - Odd results
Hi All,I've never demagnetized a watch before so thought I'd start here to see what you all think.I purchased an inexpensive demagnetizer from eBay that I've seen others report success with. That said, I think it worked as when I run my vintage Omega Seamaster DeVille by a compass it doesn't move. That said, when I run the demagnetizer with the watch it causes the second hands to jump forward erratically...and sometimes it causes it to pause for a split second. Is this expected or normal...or could this perhaps be indicative of some other issue?
