Watches NEWS
The Nomos Metro and Ahoi Atlantik
At Basel this year, Nomos has done something so surprising that, had this been Geneva instead of Basel and cars instead of watches, it would have made primetime news. ?Let me set the scene…Imagine that one manufacturer made the engines that powered most of the world's cars, but each carmaker stuck their own brand name on the rocker cover. ?So your Mercedes was really powered by the same engine as a Kia. ?That's pretty much what happens in Watchworld. ?Nivarox, part of the Swatch Group, manufacture the?assortiment, the collection of pallet, balance?wheel, hairspring and escape wheel used by most of the world's watchmakers. Now, imagine that engine maker decided it didn't want to sell to anyone except its own factories anymore. ?Can you imagine the implications for?every other brand's cost, supply chains, production lines, tooling, sales? ?That's exactly what Nivarox has done. ?It's said that soon it won't sell its?assortiment?to anyone outside Swatch Group. This has left the industr
Where to buy a 15202?
I am planning to buy the new Jumbo extra thin, but the price tag bothers me a little, I asked my 2 grey dealers they both said that they can't get one, boutique exclusivity, I found on a US site luxury bazar for the equivalent of 15.500 euros, here the retail is 17.500, but with import taxes and all it will be more expensive, does anyone know how/where to get one in Europe for a few thousand less than retail price? There is an italian shop on Chrono24 which has it on sale, but they don't really have it, it's on demand and depends on AP's availability, for the price of 14.000 euros, needless to say I don't believe one second they can get their hands on one, and much less be able to sell it to you for that price. So if anyone has clues or connections in Europe I would be happy to know, as I really want one but the price calms me down, just ordered a brand new Patek 5712 with 2.000 euros discount, would like to find an equivalent deal for the Jumbo? Thanks in advance for your replies
It happens eventually... scratches
This is after about 5 months of ownership of my RO15400. I am already very careful when wearing it and it is not even my daily beater. Though I kind of expected it, but still... Thankfully, no dings yet.
Stopped in Omega today
So I got rid of my PO 8500 cal. Im currently with out an Omega. I happen to be by the Omega boutique and stopped in. I'm in love with the new Seamaster 300! I use to own this watch, mine was new in 98. It had the wave dial. I realized how much I miss this model. The new version does not have the wave dial, it has the new ceramic bezel and the Lume has been increased. Very clean- What a beautiful watch! I'm sure I'll be adding this watch in the near future.
Can some experts discuss the 18239 with me?
Been debating buying my wife one of these. We're both pretty tall, she's about 5'10 and the 36mm size is her preference. I see these models in good condition around $10k, which looks like a fair price for a solid gold model. Can someone help me out with a background on these? How does the bracelet, clasp, movement, etc. compare to current models? For a woman looking for a 36mm watch, would this be a good choice? Any insight on this would be much appreciated.TIA!!
