Swiss Foundations and Federations Against Watch Piracy Miss The Point
First, see the official statement/announcement that has recently been released, then read my comments below it:"The Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie and the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry are joining forces to launch an international anti-counterfeiting campaign. Their objective is to inform the public on the damage caused by this global scourge. In spite of the many efforts made, the problem of counterfeiting and piracy continues to wreak havoc on virtually every economy worldwide, and is expanding rapidly through multiple distribution channels, especially online.Astronomical amountsCalculations based on Customs seizures show that counterfeits and piracy worldwide amount to US$ 200 billion to 360 billion a year, or 5% to 7% of international trade. Prices List
Hi guysThere are some website where you can get a current price list of omega watches? Thanks.
Patek 6000g 10 or Aquanaut 5167 Stainless steel strap
Torn between these two beauties. Appreciate it's a first world problem but which would you choose?
Watch damage dilemma
I have managed to damage my 5170J - whilst the picture isn't the best you can see two deep indents on the edge of the case close to 3 o'clock.I think this was due to my metal cuff link banging and then indenting into the case.Whilst it looks relatively minor to the naked eye - it keeps catching my eye.The question is a) do i send it to Patek for it to be polished or b) do i leave it as it is.Do Patek polish cases without servicing a watch and will it have an impact on the resale value (although i do not have any plans to sell it) if it has been refurbished?Any input is appreciated.
How to determine a good price?
Hi guys,My question is, how do you go about determining a good price for a pre owned watch? I know to look at current offerings but they range considerably. I am mainly looking for the Submariner 116619. I have seen offerings ranging from $21,500 - $30,000. How big of a role does year of manufacture play? All the listings that I have seen have been complete with box and papers. Naturally I want to get the newest watch for the lowest price. I just don't know how much of a premium it is worth for a watch that is a few years newer?
