My First Grail Watch: Fiona Krger
Welcome back to an original watches-dealer feature, "My First Grail Watch." In this series, we ask prominent people in the watch industry about the first timepiece that they lusted after. Today, we're speaking with Fiona?Krger, one of the newer independent watch designers to have caught our eye with her creations. ?She tells us about her First Grail Watch, which is the oldest Grail Watch we've featured.watches-dealer (ABTW): ?Who are you, and what is your relationship to the watch industry?Fiona Krger (FK): ?My name is Fiona Krger, and I am a young independent Scottish watch designer and producer working in Switzerland. I design and produce my own "Swiss Made" timepieces as well as collaborating with brands looking for a more emotional and unique take on watch design. I'm best known for my skull watches, which are produced in limited series.ABTW: ?When did your fascination with watches start?FK: ?When I came to Switzerland to do my Masters. Omega ck2998 or seamaster 300 master coaxial
Good evening everyone,My omega AD called to let me know they could place me on a list for the new ck2998 speedmaster. I'm contemplating maybe just getting a FOIS or seamaster master co-axial diver 41mm. I like versatility with my timepieces swapping out nato straps, leather bands, and bracelets at times. I would have to source a bracelet for the speedys if I do choose that model. I know they are 2 different watches but just want to hear everyones thoughts considering the ck is a LE piece. Thanks in advance!
Speedy 145.022
I decided to give my Speedy 145.022 Cal.861 some wrist time, I almost forgot how cool this watch is. It`s serial # is in the low 40mil. puts the age around 1977.It`s got some good patina on the dial hour markers.image upload no compression
Batman is gone
Can't help but notice the BLNR is no longer present on the official Rolex site. How do you feel about that?? The new Pepsi is uber cool though and I love it!
How to value purchase with aftermarket dial & bezel?
Hi all,I know some of you will not agree with buying a watch with an aftermarket dial and bezel, but I like the look of this, so am considering. It's a 18039 with an aftermarket dial and bezel. To the best of my knowledge, it's otherwise original. I know that I will not be able to send it to Rolex for service, but I have a jeweler I like and it's a 35-year old watch, so I'm not sure that I care that much. I am, however, trying to decide what I should pay as compared to the going rate for 18039s.Can you give me an idea of what I should take off of the value for the parts difference, versus an all-factory of the same model without the special bezel and dial? Or is it more or less a wash on something this old?
