Last night HODINKEE hosted a fantastic event with Manfredi Jewels at their beautiful boutique in Greenwich, CT. There was a great turn out of HODINKEE readers as well as local clients of Manfredi Jewels – with tons of watches to try on and the champagne flowing. 1 OF 22 Part of the reason Manfredi Jewels is so successful is that they continue to carry classic brands (like Breguet, Rolex, Vacheron Constantin, etc.), but also carry independent makers such as Ressence, F.P. Journe, and Laurent Ferrier – making the selection of watches interesting and fun. You may remember owner Roberto Chiappelloni and store manager Rob Weintraub from our visit last year, and from our event in conjunction with Tesla. Cyclops fever!
After having added a cyclops to my 16660 Seadweller as detailed in this thread, .rolexforums/showthread.php?t=467611I realized I had a spare cyclops (I bought two for the SD project).What to do with it....I plopped it on my Seamaster quartz.

Should Omega do a Shuttle Patch Series?
I visited Kennedy Space Center a couple of weeks ago and was impressed by the new Shuttle display. If you are in Florida this is a must-see. Anyway, given my recent obsession for Speedmaster patch models, I realized there hasn't been a new series in quite a while. So why not a Space Shuttle patch series - not all 135 missions of course - maybe one for each shuttle built. What do you think?I would love to see a STS-1 patch Speedy.

Flipping a 16518 Zenith YG Leather Strap Daytona...
...for a Patek 5296R Sector Dial dress watch (38mm, very traditional style, blue hands, fine lines on dial, display caseback, auto).I could simply purchase the PP or flip my Daytona. I am not sure. Is the D a keeper? I have bought it for less than what the dealer would give me for it now. My love for Rolex has cooled down significantly, mainly due to the Bentley-esque change in its buyers demographics.

Patek marketing: Do you like it?
There is no question that Patek Philippe has been tremendously successful with their branding. The Patek branding machine is second to only Rolex for watch manufacturers IMHO.I am curious to find out how us WIS view the Patek marketing campaign. I am specifically interested in your opinion of the magazine ads depicting a rather aristocratic appearing father and son in a B&W photo with the famous tag line You never actually own a Patek....What is your gut level reaction to these ads? Do you like them?
