Cartier and America Exhibition in San Francisco Starting December 19
The Cartier and America exhibition covers the history of the House of Cartier from its early period as the king of jewelers and jeweler to kings during the Belle Epoque through to the 1960s and 1970s, when Cartier supplied celebrities with jewels and luxury accessories. Derived mainly from the private Cartier Collection housed in Geneva, the more than 200 objects on display include jewelry of the Gilded Age and Art Deco periods, as well as freestanding works of arts such as the famous Mystery Clocks, and of course iconic Cartier personal timepieces The exhibition marks Cartier’s 100 years in the United States and it focuses on pieces worn by Americans, including a pair of rock crystal and diamond bracelets worn by Gloria Swanson in the movie Sunset Boulevard, Daisy Fellowes's Tutti Frutti necklace, and an exotic panther brooch purchased by the Duchess of Windsor.Private lenders in the United States and France have contributed significant pieces to the exhibition. Hands-On: With The Montblanc Villeret ExoTourbillon Rattrapante (Live Pics)
This week thanks to Montblanc North America, we had two pretty spectacular timepieces from the very highest end of the Montblanc horological ecosystem in the office. On Monday, we went hands on with the Montblanc Collection Villeret Tourbillon Cylindrique Geosphères Vasco da Gama, with its combination of a very artistically done world time/GMT function and a very large, 18,000 vph tourbillon with a cylindrical hairspring, and we talked about the relationship between navigation at sea, the marine chronometer, and the development and purpose of the cyclindrical hairspring. Today, we’re going to go hands on with another very technically unusual Montblanc watch: the Villeret ExoTourbillon Rattrapante. This isn’t a completely new watch, of course – it was originally unveiled back in 2013 – but that was at Watches and Wonders in Hong Kong, and while we’ve seen the watch “in the metal” once or twice in the interim, this was really our first cha
15300 help
Hi all,I been viewing the site for a while now and would like some help with the 15300. The RO is my ultimate grail and whilst I don't have the ability to stretch to the 15202 I have narrowed to the 15300. Recently I almost pulled the trigger on the black faced 15400, but opted instead for the GP Laureato 225 with the blue face as the 15400 just didn't feel right on my wrist - strangely the GP seemed smaller, even though both are rated 41mm.With this in mind I feel that looking at the 15300 may be the more viable option as most owners detail that this piece wears bigger on the wrist that the dimensions would suggest. With this in mind does anyone have the lug width and lug to lug dimensions of this piece? Thanks in advance for any help.
