How cool
Lest I forget. . .
A friend and fellow priest wrote this:In Memoriam: Planet Ocean cal. 2500He has expressed my sentiments regarding a future classic. Fortunately I am blessed to be one of 1948 who own the cal. 2500 PO Liquidmetal LE but Rob's article made me reflect on some other discontinued greats from my past.Like these other Omegas:And these Rolex examples:Ah, nostalgia.Fr. Modern it is, but which one
Recently I ran a current of threads in regards to getting a Patek Philippe dress watch. My choice was either a vintage or modern Calatrava. On reading what other members said, I have decided to go for a modern piece.I have been searching for a couple of months now, but prices here in the UK are a lot higher then in Europe and the USA and the choice is nowhere near as good either. I really envy our US members for the huge choice available.I can't make my mind up on whether to buy automatic or manual, date or no date!I have a maximum budget of approximately 12,000My wrist size is 6 ? inch.Whatever I decide to get, it must be a complete set.I am setting a poll, to see if this helps me make a decision. Here are my choices1) Brand new from dealer a 5196J 37mm2) A 3998R 34mm from 2001 Patek service history not known.3) A 3998J f 34mm from 1991 with a full Patek service in 2013.4) Alternative Patek Philippe dress watch (please name)Thank you for taking the time to vote.
Newbie trying to understand the value of Patek watches
Hey guys, I've been curious lately about the value of Pateks. I'm pretty solid when it come to the value of new/used Rolex watches now but don't have much understanding with other brands. Are there certain models that go over MSRP day one like the SS Daytonas? (Not including super rare type pieces like SkyMoon) Would I be better off buying NIB Patek grey market, or is it less expensive buying from AD? Or is it a model specific situation such as the Blue DSSD/Stainless Daytona/BLNR.Any input would be great thanks guys!
Wrist measurement?
Where do you take the wrist measurement from? My Sky D required an extra link. When i measure my wrist at the low point on my arm I get 7.75. If i measure with the crown of my Luminox at the low point of my wrist and mark the center of the band I get 8.0625-8.125. Where are the max wrist lengths of the various models listed? I know they arent all the same as the DSSD doesn't require an extra link for me. How much extra length if any should you allow for? Thanks,Marc
