Nixon Star Wars Dark Side Collection Watches
With the new installments of the Star Wars franchise approaching faster than the Millennium Falcon in hyperdrive, Nixon are ramping-up the anticipation with the release of the new Nixon Star Wars Dark Side Collection. Following in the footsteps of the Storm Trooper and X-Wing Pilot Ranger watches that were released earlier this year (see our writeup here), the Californian brand has added a few more models celebrating some of the films' best-loved baddies. There are another six Stormtrooper models, and two more Imperial Pilot Watches. There's also an??exciting new automatic watch celebrating everyone's favourite Sith Lord, Darth Vader, along with two more models inspired by the dark master. Boba Fett bursts onto the scene with his very own Ranger model, which borrows the case shape and technical specifications of the previously released Stormtrooper and Imperial Pilot Ranger models. There's a quartz digital based on the Galaxy's most-feared bounty hunter, too. The Nixon Star Wars Dark S
IWC Portofino Hand-Wound Pure Classic Watch
Despite the latest?technical breakthroughs in forging new materials, creating new in-house movement designs, or manufacturing rugged watches for "ingenieurs," the general appeal?of simple and refined dress watches is something no?luxury brand can ignore. In recent years, IWC has been busy?restyling its Portuguese Chronograph (review here) and Aquatimer (debut article here)?collections, and now, it appears, the time has come to offer something "pure and classical."?So pure and classical, that IWC decided to add these phrases to the name of its new-for-2015 dress watch: the IWC Portofino Hand-Wound Pure Classic (reference IW511101 in red gold and IW511102 in steel). The dress watch is not dead: among fierce competition between luxury brands to create the latest, greatest, most complicated and most resistant (to whatever impact the wearer himself/herself could never possibly?survive), there actually?still is a massive market?for restrained and classical looking timepieces.?Clearly, the IWC
Maranez Racha Review
A few weeks ago we took a look at the Maranez Layan, a brass (yes, brass) cushioned case watch with familiar but classic looks, decent components and a hard to resist price of $250. Today, we're going to take a detailed look at the Layan's more robust sibling, the limited edition 1000M Racha. The Racha has several stand out features that make it stand out from the heard of dive watches falling in the under $1000 range. To name a few; it has a mighty water resistance of 1000M (which we assume has been tested by the brand), it has a proven and reliable Miyota 9015 automatic movement at its heart, it has a thick domed sapphire crystal, and handful of extra straps and perhaps most interestingly, two interchangeable bezels. For $599 plus $50 shipping, the watch offers a lot of value. That being said, the case and dial designs are very common. So the question remains, are there enough unique and interesting things going to warrant buying the Racha?Case: SteelMovement: Miyota 9015Dial: BlackL
AP Service Schedule and Costs?
Hi All,Really taking a liking to the AP and as all of you have confirmed it can be a daily wearer and not be a safe queen.Have been reading up on servicing but would like some advice as can't seem to find the link on AP website. What is the servicing schedule and average costs for a modern day Royal Oak e.g. 15400?In my mind I'm budgeting about 2000 UK Sterling to have the watch sent to Switzerland every 3-4 years. Is that your experience?Or are these only recommended schedules and different in reality? Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
SeaMonster, or Clear Case Back.
One of the charming aspects of the Omega is their Sea Monster (Hippocamp) on the back..It's something I always look for in my Omega....Lately it seems that everybody wants to have a clear case back though........OK, I guess that's cool........but not nearly as cool as that Monster looking back at you..What's your preference ???
