SM300 - Memorial Day Tribute
I'd like to take the time and post a thread tributing the late LTC George A Finter.I do not know, nor have I ever known the Colonel. What I can tell you is that he was killed in action in Vietnam in 1970. I acquired his SM300 through an estate auction last week and it was everything I thought it could have been. The watch had been in storage since his personal effects had been sent home and for the first time in 43 years I cracked open the case back yesterday. I have never seen anything so sterile since I started my little journey a few years back. My original intention was to flip, but after receiving the watch on Friday I began to struggle with that decision.My problem is that I am not a watch collector. I know that this watch is a collectible specimen that would command top price. I know that it deserves to go to someone who would appreciate not just the lineage of the watch and its history, but the immaculate condition that it presents. Just wanted to share with you guys a new incoming that i just received this week:) Some of you may know i was pondering between a white 5711 or maybe an AP15400 well luck would have it that my go to AD gave me a call that a 5990 has magically arrived (i was on the list since launch) and i could have it if i wanted. The Regulator or The Datograph
I'm currently on my hols in Malta. I dragged my wife to the local Patek AD in Valetta today and was surprised to see they had a 5235 in the window. I was actually going in to try the 5170 which was there but I don't think its for me. I was taken by the 5235 though, my only concern was it did look a bit big on my 6.75 wrist, but they could just because I'm used to 39mm.When I get back to the UK I'm on the look out to try the first generation ALS Datograph. Obviously these are very different watches, I already have the following 5167, 5711, 5146, 5396. What would you go for next The Regulator or The Datograph?

Panerai - Staying true to its history with the 673
I love the history of Panerai - is there any other manufacturer that produces such a close and authentic version of the original watches that the modern equivilants are based on?The only reason I own this watch is due to falling in love with the picture behind it of the original beaten and battered 1950's piece that I'd seen and drooled over countless times previously.I was very close to purchasing a Pam372 as at the time that was the closest thing I could find to the picture I'd fallen hopelessly in love with!Then to my utter joy in 2016 Panerai released a limited edition (ref 673) tribute to the very watch I'd dreamed of for so long. I actually remember feeling a little sick when I saw it for the first time I was so excited.Anyway, needles to say I didn't need much persuading when I eventually managed to find an AD that had one available.This ones definitely a keeper for me - I still get a little buzz every time I put her on the wrist for the day.Thanks for allowing me to share my lo

Can't believe I am asking this PAM winding question...
So my PAM Booklet tells you me that if your watch has been sitting for a while, give the watch a few winds at the zero position of the crown...Now we all know with a Rolex, it's forty turns of the crown or so for a full wind.What constitutes a full wind on say a 312?
