Jaeger-LeCoultre: Gorgeous New Atmos Clocks
Jaeger-LeCoultre has been producing stunning Atmos clocks for more than 80 years, and at SIHH two new models debuted that continue the tradition. One is a re-edition of a 1930s clock, and the other a contemporary piece in Baccarat crystal designed by Marc Newson. In 1928, the engineer Jean-Lon Reutter devised a clock movement designed to run for several centuries without wearing out or requiring any external intervention. Fascinated by this revolutionary invention, Jaeger-LeCoultre applied its manufacturing capabilities to developing and perfecting the mechanism, and the Atmos clock was born. The Atmos mechanism is a marvel of engineering. It is powered by minute temperature fluctuations. Even a 1 degree Celsius change is enough to provide 48 hours of power reserve. Its annular balance also operates in an amazingly economical manner: by oscillating just two times per minute, its energy consumption is 250 times less than that of a conventional wristwatch. Here is an amazing statistic: i
should I be concerned
The strap is only 2 months old and it's cracking, will this fall of the wrist? Has to be a defect...
Tried on several APs today
Well stopped by Govberg in Philly today and hit up the second floor with the good stuff after looking at the Rolexes, Balls and Cartiers on the bottom floor. I'm beat but I tried own 5-7 AP, some VC PP, Roger Dubois, and a Brietling tourbillon. I'll elaborate tomorrow but catching the Zzzs now. Just wanted to share before bed.
Shark Mesh on my Seamster Sword Hands
I picked up my new Omega shark mesh bracelet today for my Seamaster Sword Hands. The first thing that struck me is that the clasp is seriously chunky. It can't be anything but chunky considering it was, I believe, originally designed for serious professional use on the Ploprof. Its also a lovely piece of engineering, great quality with smooth operation on the extendable clasp. One gets used to the size after a while but it looks like it will be a formidable scratch magnet! The mesh is beautiful to look at. Again, its quite thick and elaborately constructed. The overall appearance is very masculine but also sophisticated. It does not look blingy to my eyes. The truly surprising fact is that this bracelet is one of the most comfortable I have worn (coming only second to my Rolex Jubilee bracelet in the comfort and ease of use stakes).Overall this is a beautiful bracelet and I'm very happy with it. Its going to stay on my Seamaster and its a good match with the watch. Yes, the clasp is huge
5164 for 116619 (Smurf) ???
Hello all,My current small stable consists of a 5980r (gold on croc), 5164, 15202 and 116610lnI like the 5164 and it wears quite well but I'm toying with the idea of flipping it for a 116619 Smurf. I do like the 116613 but simply cannot pull of the all gold look at the office and while its a great piece I would be extremely limited in when I can wear it.I feel that the Smurf may be quite versatile and I would most likely move the 116610 (as having both is a bit redundant for me)...not sure what I would then do as a travel/beat around piece as the 116610 serves that role quite well now.I would appreciate hearing any thoughts on the above. I'm open to to suggestions as well on what to replace the 116610 with if I make this move.TIA !
