Jumping on the forged carbon bandwagon...
Like many here I panicked when I heard that AP was phasing out forged carbon in favor of ceramic, so I put my order in figuring that this was my last chance to score my dream diver.Well, as we all know, it was a false alarm, but even so, I knew that this was a watch that would go the distance in my collection, so I stayed the course, and boy am I glad that I did...Sigh...It wears like a dream......and if I'm being honest here, it's a completely different beast than the stainless steel diver. Indeed, they could both live quite happily with one another in the same collection. Alas, I doubt I'll be able to do just that, given my finances, however if I could, you can bet that I would. Here's a parting shot with another famous yellow diver:Love it!!!Regards,AdamPS - Apologies for the crappy office lighting and iPhone photos.
Speedmaster Gemini
What do you guys think about the Speedmaster 3565.80 Gemini? It's a limited edition piece with only 2005 made and is basically the moon watch with a blue dial and bezel. I'm being offered this watch bnib for 2300. is this a good deal?
PP 5004P or 5204P
So I've been thinking a lot about which one of these to get with in next year. Love 5970P and 5270G blue dial, but wanting something more complicated and more unique. Any thoughts? Also was just approved for 5131R and can't wait till I get one.Watches: 5711/1a blue, 5712/1a, Rolex D blue, GMT BLNR, Sub Hulk, Daytona Ceramic black dial, Tudor Ranger
Dealer Ramblings
Piling onto an ongoing discussion/debate, I had the occasion to visit two AD's this past week, one my home AD, the other a smaller market independent. Both said they have not received the letter. Both said by their standards, it's been business as usual so far for 2018. My store, the Rolex Boutique here in town says they have received some of all of the professional models so far this year. There is some backlog due to the Christmas rush so the allocation models have all gone straight to customers waiting on the list. They expect to be back to a more normal flow post Basel unless stuff there creates a new rush. The other smaller market store had just received an order that morning that included all of the allocation models except a Daytona. He said in January they had received replinishment orders that are routine, replacing pieces they have sold. The manager there asked that I not share their information as they do not sell to people we don't know i.e. random phone calls. Both told me t
