Ikepod Solaris Watches: New Direction For Marc Newson
Ikepod is designer Marc Newson's quirky but cool watch brand. From its inception, most of his watches shared the same round bulbous look and had model names like "Hemipode." The watches are very cool and very hard to come by with extremely limited distribution (only two authorized dealers in the US). Despite their rarity, Ikepod watches have always intrigued me and looked like they enjoyed more than niche product appeal. Further, their modern looks being minimalist and all, are still very functional, with some of the existing models offering very complex features.Well, Marc has taken a completely new direction with the new Solaris lines of watch. Not only is the shape of the watch case square, but the overall theme of the watch is totally different. Rather than a soft futuristic look, the Solaris watches are retro chic. The case itself looks like an appliance dreamed up in pre-space age 1950's and 60s, but with cleaners lines. Maybe what art deco might have evolved into if industrial d

Speedy Moonphase Revisited
So since I had a day to kill I took 150 mile round trip drive to the nearest Omega dealer to actually see this piece on my wrist as others have said it definitely wears smaller than 44.25MM and I got to see the black on a bracelet and the Blue on leather. Both are quite stunning in the flesh I might have went for the blue on a bracelet but I have this tremendous bias towards black watches anyway after trying it on and seeing it in the flesh I pulled the trigger on a black/bracelet should have it by Friday! Traded my SMP I just like the Tudor HBB too much to let it go.
Is the Rolex Gray Market Slowing Down?
Unfortunately it isRolex watches until a few months ago were easy to get and on offer at considerable savings so you could avoid the unethical mark-ups the manufacturer has applied to all of them.So the marque we love will become a lot more difficult to buy at a less painful price. Until recently I was able to offer 30% discount or more ..But not anymore, ...with that said of course the gray market probably will NEVER go away entirely.Rolex sport watches are now harder to find from non-authorized dealers at no discount, many Rolex watches found on the gray market in the United States were meant for sale overseas, but were sold to gray distributors who sold them to unauthorized distributors in North America. In this way, an individual consumer can buy a high-end piece not only at a discount, but considerably faster than he or she could get it from an authorized dealer.Rolex make efforts to ensure their product isn’t getting into gray market channels, the gray market is likely to g
Normal?? My GMT-Master II currently running ten days behind!
I must admint... I hate adjusting the date on both Pepsi and BLNR after a few days of not wearing them. The thought of rotating the hour hand two full rotations to advance the date by 1 day, and then to repeat this over and over to catch up to say 10 days later... I feel like I am doing this to the watch and putting extra wear and tear by fast forwarding the hour hand that normally forwards slowly. Yesterday I picked up 16710 to wear it and the date said '2'. I thought meh.... close enough to 12! and just set the time and wound it a bit and put it on.So technical watchmakers and professional watch rotators of experience: what say you? Should I be worried about clicking forward many days in one shot, done perhaps two - three times a month? Or should I just ignore the date and refer to my iphone for that info???
