Dodane Type 23 Watches For 2015
The Dodane Type 23 has opened my eyes: The world of watchmaking is vaster than the billboards and glossy magazine articles might have us believe. When you think about visiting a fair like Baselworld, the big names instantly pop into your mind: Rolex, Breitling, Omega, PatekBut there is another treat in store C the joy of unearthing a brand you know little about and getting the chance to learn more.Dodane is a French company based in Chatillon le Duc. The family-owned brand, founded in 1857, is currently in the hands of the fifth generation and is remaining true to its long involvement with aviation with its wave of new releases. The Dodane Type 23 is a model designed with practical use in mind and is the civilian variant of a model used by the French?air force.Baselworld 2015 sees the launch of five new models from Dodane. Although similar in silhouette (the cases measure 42.5mm in width), each one offers a distinctive style, inferring the trends and quirks of other, more mainstream br

AP Family Photos...post em!
I'm sure there's older threads with similar topics and I could have posted this in the Rolex General section but since I feel as though the AP Subsection is my online family, it only felt right to start it here. I travel a lot for work, which means that unfortunately I must part with my babies quite often. As I was getting ready for the usual trip to the safe deposit box before my departure, thought I'd snap a photo of all the boys together before they go back into the cold, lonely safe ...One always comes along though, and since I'm usually overseas, it's this one!I'd love to see all your family photos!
Incoming tomorrow!
Incoming tomorrow morning! I can't wait!!!
OK, the Omegas are growing on me...
It has always been a cherished brand for me, perhaps because my father and mother always wore Omegas (still do), but there were always some design aspects that kept me from buying. Until now, I think...So I visited the Omega Boutique on during lunch today. I already talked about my favorable impressions of the Speedmaster 9300 on a separate thread. I've always had a week spot for the Ploproof but quite never had the guts to pull the trigger, but then today I thought I'd give the Planet Ocean 8500 42mm another look. And I was very pleased, dare I say, smitten by it.I recently sold off my SubC, reason being that I have the old Sub and the DSSD, so I don't really need that bad boy as well, but moreover, I feel like the redesign has Rolex on the wrong track. The bezel in combination with the glossy dial just makes the darn thing too shiny and blingy!? The oversized lugs created a boxy designs that just doesn't speak to me. And there is no hiding from the fact that when I go to an office m
