Fr��d��rique Constant will be the Official Timekeeper and exclusive sponsor of The Peking to Paris Motor Challenge, taking place from September 10th through October 16th, 2010. The first edition of this legendary classic car event took place in 1907. The idea for the race came from a challenge published in the Paris newspaper Le Matin on January 31st 1907. The challenge read: “What needs to be proved today is that as long as a man has a car, he can do anything and go anywhere. Is there anyone who will undertake the challenge to travel from Peking to Paris by automobile?”The route for the 2010 edition of ‘The Ultimate Driving Adventure’ runs from the Great Wall in China, through Mongolia, then briefly into Russia before turning south west into Kazakstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and via Turkey, Greece and Italy into France to finish on the famous Place Vend?me in Paris. Would you buy a broken Speedmaster?
If presented with the opportunity to get a Speedmaster (circa 1999-2000) in great external shape, but with a broken mainspring, would you buy it? The price is in the $350 range, because the seller acknowledges the issue and the cost of repair that I would incur. If the mainspring is the only issue, how much do you think the repair cost would be? With all of that information in mind, does that seem a fair price for what I've described?

My question is for those familiar with both and relates to the dial: is it more silvery/white on the 5196j and more grey on the 5196r? That's my impression and am now torn between preferring rose gold and what appears to be a more attractive dial color (to me anyways) on the yellow gold model.
