Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch, Space Race
The Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch is among the most famous historic watches of all times, and it still happens to be produced today. Here is some more of the "back-story" behind the iconic watch: Chances are that at some point today you've used a satellite. Whether TV, phone or internet, your digital footprint will have probably graced the heavens, tossed about by a network of delicate machines that shoot around the ball of rock we call home at over 18,000mph. But, 1,071 successful satellite launches ago, there wasn't a single man-made device orbiting the Earth. Then, on October 4th, 1957, the starting pistol fired and the Space Race began. The launch of the Soviet Sputnik 1 took US President Dwight D. Eisenhower by such surprise that he coined the term sputnik crisis in response to Russia's success. But Sputnik wasn't the only game-changing creation of 1957; the other was in Switzerland, in the shadow of the Neuchatel mountains: the birth of the Omega Speedmaster. To complim
Arnold & Son DTE "Double Tourbillon Escapement" Watch
What do you get when you combine the Arnold & Son DBG and UTTE watches? The Arnold & Son DTE of course! Oddly, that even seems to make mathematical sense. For 2014 Swiss watch maker Arnold & Son will release this new limited edition double time, double tourbillon timepiece which is officially known as the "Double Tourbillon Escapement" watch. While it doesn't break new ground technically, it doesn't need to. This is all about visual and design excellence in the form of an admirably complicated watch from a brand that has been on a serious roll lately. To understand how the DTE came into existence it is a good idea to first look at the Arnold & Son DBG (watches-dealer review here) with its double balance wheels and double dials for the time. Next look at the 2013 Arnold & Son UTTE (watches-dealer review here), that was their ultra-thin tourbillon timepiece. Combine the two and you get a rather thin case with two tourbillons and two dials for the time. It is like the t
Help with my clasp/band
Hi all. Need some help. I have worn my AP ROO safari a handful of times. After each use I notice the the clasp pin that holds the clasp and the band together has moved out of the band. After looking closer it looks like a pin is needed. Can a few of you take a picture like the ones I am attaching so that I can see if in fact I am missing a piece. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks everyone
Question from a New Rolex Owner
I just bought an early 1980s DateJust as my first Rolex!I have read so much about the datejust being super durable and actually a tool watch, despite being so light and dressy.I want to wear my baby everyday......But because it is so much lighter and dainty in appearance --in comparison to some of the diver/sport watches I've worn-- I am worried about wearing it daily. But I've read the opposite...that they are supremely durable despite being light, because of the metals used, and that frankly the only difference in durability with a submariner is a heavier crown guard, heavier back case and extra/larger gaskets. Can I rock my DJ daily?Mind you, I own a landscape company. I'm not in the trenches everyday, but I am constantly in an environment where I'm around/handling equipment.Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
Wrist measurement?
Where do you take the wrist measurement from? My Sky D required an extra link. When i measure my wrist at the low point on my arm I get 7.75. If i measure with the crown of my Luminox at the low point of my wrist and mark the center of the band I get 8.0625-8.125. Where are the max wrist lengths of the various models listed? I know they arent all the same as the DSSD doesn't require an extra link for me. How much extra length if any should you allow for? Thanks,Marc
