Two Victorinox Swiss Army Watches Celebrate Two Victorinox Anniversaries
Victorinox, maker of the iconic Swiss Army knives, was founded 130 years ago, in 1884. The company made its first Swiss Army watches 25 years ago, in 1989. Victorinox marked both milestones last year with the release of two new Victorinox watches: the new Inox line of tough sports watches, and a limited-edition dive watch, the Dive Master 500.The Victorinox Swiss Army Inox watch collection pays tribute to the 130th anniversary of Victorinox and is designed as a link between watchmaking and the company’s pioneering invention, the Swiss Army knife. (“Inox” is the French word for stainless steel, the material used both for knife blades and for the watch’s stamped, machined case.) Victorinox has subjected the Inox watches to a battery of toughness tests to verify them as timepieces “built to last.” Inox watches can withstand a 10-meter drop onto concrete, survive being driven over by a 64-ton tank, and emerge unscathed from two hours in both a washing ma
Jaeger-LeCoultre Hybris Mechanica Grande Sonnerie, Thoughts On The Most Complicated Watch In The World
After writing a few articles about this watch I wanted to step back and think about it a bit. To be "the world's most complicated watch," even for a short period of time is quite a feat. This is measured in terms of "complications" which tend to have generally accepted definitions and can be enumerated to watch industry professionals and enthusiasts. The Jaeger-LeCoultre Hybris Mechanica Grande Sonnerie has 26 complications. If you could count its functions, the number does not reach 26 of course. In fact, let's count the number of functions that it has in a nutshell. It shows the time (hour, minute, and seconds) - three functions. It has a perpetual calendar function that shows the day, date, month, and leap year - another four functions. The watch has a complex sonnerie (chiming) mechanism that has a three different chimes plus a minute repeater - another four functions. Then you have two power reserve indicators - two more functions.? If you count those up, you get 16 complications.
Bracelet sizing
Hi everyone I recently picked a 15400 and I've been to trying to get the bracelet right. First I had two links taken out of either side, but felt too tight and was leaving the imprint of the watch on my wrist. So I had one link put back on. it still didn't sit right, so I went to AP in NYC and purchased a link and half. So currently I'm at 4 regular links taken out and the link and a half put in. However it still doesn't sit the way I'd like. Any suggestions? See fit below.
Does my Omega need service?
I bought my Speedmaster Date 3513.30 13 months ago new from an AD and I'm most definitely not getting the full claimed 44 hours out of the power reserve. I usually only wear it a few hours at a time as I don't work with it on, am I wrong to assume it should be capable of going for a full 40+ hours after wearing it for about 4 or 5 straight? Seems odd I have to reset the time every other day on a watch that is only barely a year old.
