Photo Gallery: Touring the Luxury Booths of SIHH 2014
The Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH), which took place last week in Geneva, is probably the world’s most exclusive international watch fair, with an invitation-only guest list. As we did last year, WatchTime wanted to give our readers and diehard watch fans a peek inside those hallowed halls of horology, courtesy of these exclusive photos by our own Mike Disher. Click below to begin the tour… A watchmaker demonstrates his skills at Audemars PiguetCartier, which introduced the most new products, fittingly had the largest booth.IWC designed its new, aquatic-themed booth to coincide with the release of its revamped Aquatimer line.A huge replica of its new Richard Lange Perpetual Calendar Terraluna took center stage at A. Review: Citizen Nighthawk
The Citizen Nighthawk might be old news to a lot of watch people out there. It's been around for a few years and has gotten a decent amount of attention in its day. But despite that we felt that it had a place on worn&wound, because it's one of the best mass-market quartz offerings out there in terms of affordability, good design and value. ?For $237, the Nighthawk delivers in ways that many more expensive watches don't. It has useful complications and features, distinctive looks, solid build quality, good water resistance and a solar powered movement that lasts 180 days on a full charge and never requires a new battery. Forgetting that it is a cool looking watch for a second, between the GMT hand, the slide rule bezel and the solar movement, you have 3 outstanding features that can actually be useful on a daily basis. As James Enloe pointed out in his guide of GMT watches, being able to track a second time zone has very practical implications. Slide rule bezels can allow you to do
ceramic diver discontinued?
Hi all, was taking a look at the AP website, clicked on the diver and there are 2 watches, but no ceramic, white or black, was it never listed on their website in the first place, wonder why they would do that, or was it and now it's gone?If it's gone might give foundation to the rumor I read here and there that they were going to stop production, which sucks because I was getting to really like it and considering getting it one day, want at one point to have a ceramic piece and apart from the diver the only one I like, but less than the AP is the Pam 335, it's nice but nowhere near the finish of AP ceramic, it's matte ceramic without the vertical lines that AP has or brushed/polished parts. Also I am starting to like a few offshore models but am disappointed as I like them with ceramic bezel, again that ceramic obsession, and they only have them on 44mm models, I could go for a 42 but a 44 don't think so, I know members with smaller wrists than mine have 44's, but it's nice on them whe
An Omega Story
Wonderful Early Christmas Present...I was just given an Omega X-33 by my closest friend (since first grade). It was his personal watch that he purchased through his Squadron at NAS Oceana (VFA-81). He's worn it in combat, as a Top Gun instructor, an F-18 Instructor, and an F-5 aggressor pilot. He recently left the Navy at the rank of Lt. Cmdr and has known for quite some time my affliction for all things watches and decided that I would be a great person to give the watch too. It needs a movement service (hopefully with an upgrade to the newest version) and new crystal but I told Omega to leave all the dings, scratches, etc alone as they are representative as the life this watch has lead. Needless to say I feel honored and blessed that he would give me this piece of Aviation, Naval, and friendship history to me.My X-33 has returned from Omega service. Couple things i'd like to cover: 1. Customer Service was amazing! The Oakbrook boutique was very helpful and kept me in the loop at all
Here is another ...
I've never seen before...a platinum 5961p but with BLACK dial!....
