Watches NEWS
BEST FROM: watches-dealer and Friends August 2nd
To kick off August, we spend some time with the new Tudor Heritage Chronograph to see if it lives up to its hype. We also find out why another Tudor, the Pelagos, is the perfect one watch; learn how one becomes a watchmaker; attempt to explain why watches cost what they do, and more.1. Memoirs of a Watchmaker: Coming of Age With HorologyHow does one begin to become a watchmaker? Well, apparently, it begins with really menial and mind-numbing tasks such as learning how to look through the loupe with both eyes open and learning to pick up tiny parts with tweezers without dropping and losing them. An interesting read or maybe a warning call for those who aspire to be a watchmaker.Source:?watches-dealer2. My First Grail Watch: Jeff HessMaybe it's just me, but whenever I meet like-minded watch enthusiasts, I always ask what's their grail watch. You know, that one watch that they lust over and desire far more than any others. I think it says a lot about what kind of person he or she is. My
Thomas Prescher Nemo Captain Triple Axis Tourbillon Watch
Thomas Prescher?strikes you as the type of man that knowingly knows something you don't. What this special knowledge entails doesn't seem to matter, but the German-born watchmaker regularly smiles reassuringly with a gleam in his eye that seems to tell you he's figured something out about life that you haven't. It could all just be something about his confident personality. He isn't terribly forward with it, but he isn't shy about reminding you that he, and only he possess certain techniques that make his little machines possible to produce. Once again he releases a watch with his special form of?triple axis tourbillon.Prescher is a compact man who currently lives in Switzerland producing a handful of rather intensely horological items each year. He has a bit of a reputation for being a rogue agent. Thomas does things his own way having a marked anti-establishment streak which seems typical with many independent watchmakers. Perhaps with good cause. For the most part Thomas is an autod
ZENITH Captain Grand Date MoonphaseAfter the on-board timer
This timepiece is available in three versions with a silver or black nail of Paris Guilloche dial, in a case with a dial silver in a case in rose gold or steel. ZENITH Captain Grand Date MoonphaseAfter the on-board timer, the stars were allied sailors second. Their position in the sky, the latitude of the ship was calculated. With the help of two coordinates of longitude and latitude, the captain was able to find its position and define the specific courses to reach its destination. Moonphase model ZENITH reproduced on its dial the various stages of the lunar cycle - new moon, first quarter, full moon and last quarter. The moonphase function is already integrated in the pocket of ZENITH Watches. This function appears in a 06 opening and the date is displayed in an hour. The Captain Grand Date Moonphase is available in two versions, with a dial silver guilloché nail in Paris in a case of gold steel or pink.
Are Seamaster 2252.50 and Speedmaster bracelets the same?
I have a 2252.50 Seamaster Professional 300m that I bought new in 2008. I also have a Speedmaster Pro moon watch that I bought on TZ around the same time. I haven't worn either one in years, but I pulled them down from the closet a couple of days ago. My wrist (like the rest of me, alas) is a bit bigger than it was in 2008. I'm not seeing an extra link in the Seamaster box, but I found one in a small plastic envelope in the Speedy box. The bracelets look identical - are they the same, i.e. could I add the extra Speedy link to the Seamaster bracelet? I also have a Railmaster from the same era that came to me on a leather band with an unused steel bracelet - that also looks the same, I wonder if I can have the shop mix and match so I could wear the Seamaster on the new bracelet? Thanks for your thoughts.
First Rolex Incoming
Hey Guys,You may have read my new member thread and my AD ended up calling me today! I had plans to leave town yesterday, but I'm glad I didn't. My rep called and said a sub no date had just come in this morning and he had set it aside. I came in a few hours later and walked out with it. My AD experience was really great, and I'd recommend anyone looking to buy their first Rolex to go that route. I'm really happy with it and I'm glad I'm finally a Rolex owner. They also had quite a few Daytonas come in as well as 2 Milgauss's. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
