Mhle-Glashtte M29 Classic Watch
While I've been content (so far) to view the vintage watch world from afar, I do have a soft spot in my heart for watches that draw direct inspiration from an earlier model in a company's history. Just recently, Mhle-Glashtte introduced a watch in that very vein - the M29 Classic, and I quite like it. More good news is that price is pretty good for a Muhle Glashutte timepiece.Interestingly, they didn't just take inspiration from their own watches. They also delved into their earlier history when Robert Mhle was making precision measurement instruments for the watch industry in Glashtte. From this part of the back catalog, they settled in on the Model 29 indicator gauge. While this sort of gauge looks simple, readability is of the utmost importance - especially at the tolerances and scale involved. While I've not used this particular gauge, I've used others in my past working in an aerospace machine shop, so I know that accuracy and clearness are of the utmost importance. This then i
Avenir Chrono Boss Premiere Watches
When Avenir Chrono's people were telling me about their new Boss Premiere line of watches (seen here), they mentioned a host of celebrities who were known to wear or own the watches. The funny thing was that I'd never heard of all but one of the people they mentioned. This rather amused me. I was first curious as to what portion of the pop culture demographic they were referring to (later I learned it was mostly people in the hip hop community), and then I was curious as to just how "out of it" I am when it comes to pop culture. Granted, I don't keep up much with the hip hop crowd, and of course less as to what they are wearing. Maybe because they have a reputation for being on distasteful side of "bling" to often (i.e. most of the Jacob & Co. produces). But watches like this Avenir Chrono don't phase me that way. They are certainly a major step up from diamond gilded Casio G-Shock watches. In fact, I think that these timepieces are pretty cool. Sure they are showy, and have a quasi
Seamless transaction with Matt (mdgrwl)-Finally got a Speedy!
Just got my BNIB Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch from Matt and the entire process was perfect. The watch arrived in one day and was absolutely as advertised. Matt is great to deal with and the price was very reasonable. I love the Omega bracelet but I think the alligator strap that I had made for another watch looks pretty sharp. Matt is an honest guy who will deliver on his promises. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Rolex Daytona C
I just don't understand all the hype surrounding the new Daytona C. OK it's a nice watch but paying premium cost for them I think their overrated & to go on a waiting list for up to two year's it's madness. Rolex are releasing them slowly to create this demand. I myself have a TT Daytona White Dial 116503 & I wouldn't exchange it for the Daytona C. Does anyone agree with me or are you all hypnotized by it
Hulk or YM II if cost is subsidized
I currently have the current reference GMT II in TT and have an opportunity to acquire either Hulk or YM II am not certain which way to go... I am getting 6K towards the purchase so basically Hulk would wind up costing me $2000-$3000 not certain yet because the discount has not Been confirmed. As for YM 2 on SS my out of pocket will $8600. Obviously i know they are very different looking models and am partial to Hulk but feels light to me due to TT weight I used to (also have and am used to wearing Panerai Pam88 which is 44mm) I tired the YM II at the local AD but couldn’t really get the feel due to lack of sizing on bracelet as it was fully linked so I was just able to set it on my wrist but couldn’t really experience how it would feel once secured on.. I have to make the decision by Tuesday, any opinions and insights are welcome
