Patek Philippe To Open First US Brand Boutique In Los Angeles
While the famous high-end watch maker Patek Philippe certainly has other mono-brand boutiques in other parts of the world, they will open their very first American stand-alone boutique this month in July of 2012. The location is Los Angeles on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. Patek Philippe timepieces have been featured in the watch and jewelry store Gearys on the same street. In cooperation with the powerful retailer, Patek Philippe's Los Angeles brand boutique will be operated by Gearys and will be located across the street from them.Luxury watch brand boutiques are very common on and around the famous shopping street in Beverly Hills. Now Patek Philippe joins a range of other high-end watch makers in having an exclusive location for collectors to view and purchase a large selection of Patek Philippe timepieces. Gearys is the perfect partner for the boutique because of their extensive knowledge of the brand and relationship with customers in the Los Angeles area. The Los Angeles boutique
Affordable Vintage: Raketa Big Zero
Stop what you're doing (reading this, I assume), run over to ebay and search Raketa Back? Chances are you just got lost in a weird alternate universe of Russian mechanical watches from the 60's to the 90's. 24-hour dials, strange graphics, Cyrillic bezels and, of course, remarkable prices are some of what you'll find on that search. In fact, I run that search quite often as you never know what weird and interesting designs you'll find. Not only are they often unique, they are quite inspiring from a graphic standpoint. For a brief history of the brand, I recommend watching this video: History of Russian Watch Factory part 1?& part 2One watch that I found that I just couldn't get out of my head was the Big Zero (check out our Pairs Well With too), which according to Raketa's website, this or a similar watch was known to be worn my Mikhail Gorbachev during the 80's. Sure, there are stranger and more unique Raketas out there, such as the Copernicus, but something about this watch just
Inside The Manufacture: A Visit To, And Detailed Look At, Laurent Ferrier
I always like to begin my stories about Laurent Ferrier with the same fact. This man, who now makes some of the finest watches around, who also spent four decades of service at a little company called Patek Philippe, ultimately achieving the position of technical and product director, not only raced at 24 hours of LeMans in 1979, but actually podiumed, coming in third place. Who came in second? The team featuring one Mr. Paul Newman. So, no matter what you think of Mr. Ferrier's watches, he is, was, and always will be, incredibly cool. 2 OF 47 And about those watches. We've given you a diatribe or two on why we love Laurent Ferrier so much – see here for a look at the micro-rotor, here for a look at the new and improved tourbillon double spiral, and here for the just announced and about to be delivered dual time-zone Traveller. But just this week, while spending some time sitting in a Geneva hotel room, I decided to shoot LF a note and see if I could swing b
Never understood what all the fuss was about......
Until I got one. What a beautifully made watch!
Does anyone have an all gold sub AND the 2 tone?
I thought for sure this would cover my adoration of the bluesy. Weirdly I find myself looking at the bluesy online, then reminding myself I already have the full gold.Strange. It's stunning. I'm over the moon about it. It will never leave me, but it's still quite different than the bluesy. Or, I'm mentally illHaven't decided yet.
