Montblanc e-Strap Combines Smart Wearable Device With Mechanical Watch In New Timewalker Urban Speed Collection
Prior to the Geneva watch trade show SIHH 2015, watch and luxury goods maker Montblanc has announced it is stepping into the smartwatch market C well, at least the smart wearables market. The upcoming Montblanc Timewalker Urban Speed collection of timepieces will have an optional strap called the e-Strap (product reference 113827) C perhaps the first smart connected wearable from an established luxury company. The e-Strap features a high-end leather strap that has a carbon fiber texture to it that Montblanc calls "Extreme Montblanc Leather" and is produced by them in Florence, Italy. At the bottom, sitting under your wrist is an electronic module made from DLC (diamond like carbon) coated steel or in gray steel. Apparently, there are a few color and size options. Why isn't Montblanc simply producing a smartwatch that combines technology with luxury watch design and materials? Well according to most people in the luxury watch world, that isn't what most of their consumers want. In fact,
Tool watch owners ... When WON'T you wear your watch ?
So this question goes out to anyone who owns a Rolex they consider to be a tool watch. If you have a SubC, Explorer, ExplorerII, DSSD etc. is there a situation when you would not be happy wearing your watch ?Would you wear it to go climbing up a rock ? Snowboarding down the side of a big mountain ? White water Rafting ? Basically I'm asking even if you own a watch that is considered extremely rugged, when do you draw the line and say nope, not risking my Rolex on that.
Omega Polaris 18K two tone
What can anyone tell me about this model in 18K with titanium inlays? It's almost all gold weighing 88g and apparently the model is 396.1222. I have an opportunity to buy one for $5K CDN.Is that a fair value? It looks mint.
My next Rolex.......or Omega
Hi All - Having posted previous threads regarding my next Rolex selection I find the advice provided by the forum members to be extremely helpful. My search for my next watch has taken me to look at the current Rolex line up and already being an owner of a SubC and Milgauas I only really see the Explorer as an option. Another option I am considering is looking at the new Omega Seamaster 300 Master Coaxial or Aqua Terra and just wanted to get done views?Has anyone made a jump from Rolex to the new Omega range with the Master Coaxial movement and if so how do they compare in terms of quality? Also open to another other suggestions! Many thanks
Vintage Omega Seamaster Repair
Hey guys! Long time, no see I'm looking for a talented watchmaker to refurb a vintage Omega Seamaster Chrono that I want to present as a gift to a friend. I'm the best man in his wedding, and the watch was originally his father's, which he purchased in the 70's. Anyway, it's a VERY cool-looking piece, pictures of which are attached. Naturally the most important thing to me would be to get it back up and running. Nothing about that seems like it would be a problem, but from my understanding it's been several years since the watch was in working condition. My second priority would be to keep the watch in its original parts as much as possible, though I fully admit that's far less important than having the watch fully functional and looking clean again. My question to you all is, do you have any recommendations for skilled Omega watchmakers? They'd almost definitely need a parts account, as I'm sure some of the gears, gaskets and other workings are old, worn out, or otherwise needi
