Affordable Vintage: Edma Super Sous Marine
In the 1960's and 1970's it was fairly common in the dive watch world for a case maker to sell their cases to a variety of different watch companies who would brand the dial and sell the watches as their own. Caribbean, Squale and the EPSA Super Compressor cases are all well known examples of this marketing practice. Another but less well known case is the Sous Marine brand, which appropriately translates to "undersea" or "submarine". While not nearly as famous as the Caribbeans or as sought after by collectors as the Super Compressors, the Sous Marine watches were well built tool divers that frankly came out looking pretty darn good. Some of the ‘illustrious’ brands found on the Sous Marine dials include Yema, Huf Prestige, Kelbert, Tinnes, Bernwatch, Magador and Edma Super. Not quite the same cach in that list as Longines, Universal Geneve, Jenny, O&W and Bulova found in the Caribbeans or Super Compressors, right? The French brand Yema is easily the most recognizable

Speedmaster bezels, which is correct ?
I am thinking of replacing my very rough bezel/bezel insert on my latest Speedmaster (see 3rd photo down) It is a pre moon model 145022-69 (from early 1969) I have an option to buy a couple of bezels which supposedly are for this vintage but one has a hyphen over the first E in TACHYMETRE and the other one does not (see photos)The current bezel I have on does not have the hyphen and I am assuming it is the original so obviously I want to replace with the same, anyone know when this hyphen came in please, thanks.
5711 crosses the $50K mark
I'm sure nobody is surprised, and this is probably old news to most, but this is the first time I've seen a 5711 cross the $50K mark from a legit trusted seller. AFAIK, the rose gold 5711r is not that hard to get at list price from an AD at $51K.Very rarely does the spread in market price justify the premium for a precious metal variant. In this case, I think it is fair to say that there is more than a few thousand dollars worth of gold in the 5711r. It will be interesting to see what happens to 5711r prices. Judging from Chrono24, it has already moved around $10K higher than it was a few months ago. .takuyawatches/product...-complete-set/
