IWC Portuguese Grande Complication Watch
The new holy grail IWC Grande Complication watch is here. IWC has taken their famous "easy to read but complete" perpetual calendar watch with moon phase and year indicator, that also has a minute repeater, placed it in a Portuguese style case, and updated the dial a little bit. You know how the most sober looking ultra complex watch out there. It is hard not to like the looks and appreciate all that it does. It isn't cheap though!See my full article on the IWC Portuguese Grande Complication watch at Haute Living here. Hands-On: With The Patek Philippe 5140R And 5140P, Classic Perpetuals Both With New Dial Options For 2014
While the two big releases for Patek Philippe at Basel World this year both happened to be in stainless steel (the new Nautilus Chrono Travel Time 5990 / Annual Calendar Chrono 5960A), it's worth noting that one of its more understated and elegant, but important, timepieces received two updates. The reference 5140 is Patek's round, traditional perpetual calendar, and this year we saw two brand new dials. It is the follow up to the iconic 3940, which is considered to be one of the most important pieces of Patek's modern history – many consider it, along with the 3970, the first serially produced truly complicated timepiece. Its 20-year reign came to an end in 2006 when Patek showed the 5140, which would use the same ultra-thin, self-winding, micro-rotor-powered caliber 240Q. Since then, the 5140 has been shown in white gold, yellow gold, rose gold with brown dial, and platinum with a blue dial. 2 OF 4 The platinum case with a galvanized black dial features

Ploprof on Rubber or Steel
Hi Everybody.I am still in shock and amazement from yesterdays visit to my local AD to pick up my Deville Chronoscope. black/white dial on a black leather deployment strap. After the transaction was complete, the manager who I know very well started talking about the Ploprof he would like to own. As I was not overly sure about this one, a bit big I thought !. Anyway I asked if he would show me the one he had in the window which had a black dial on black Rubber. As soon as I held this beauty I was in love. It is a truely magnificent watch, everything about it is so well made and thought out. The work that has gone into the clasp alone leaves many manufacturers back in the dark ages. The dial seems to radiate inwards to the centre of the dial. The solid construction and safety features like automatic helium escape Valve, The Crown guard protected system and the bezel release button are beautiful made and work so solidly. I am going to purchase this watch next, that goes without saying,
GMT IIC 126710BLRO vs 116710LN
I was curious to compare the differences between the case design of the new 126710BLRO vs the 116710LN.So I did some photoshopping to compare the two watches.Images are taken straight from Rolex and were not resized when I created the overlays. I would venture out and say that I can see how the BLRO lugs are a tiny bit narrower but that is really not much in my opinion.GMT COMP_Summary.pngSince I was at it, I also made a mockup of what I believe will become the 126710LN next year or the following.
