As part of their sale of Important Watches this year, Sotheby's is auctioning off a unique red gold IWC Special Edition Pilot's Watch Double Chronograph Edition "Le Petit Prince." We took a look at the stainless steel version?of the children's book-inspired watch, and this special version is being auctioned to benefit the?Antoine de Saint-Exup��ry Youth Foundation. ?Antoine de Saint-Exup��ry was, along with being the author of The Little Prince (Le Petit Prince,?en Fran?ais), an avid pilot who penned numerous books about the subject.It's hard not to find the "Le Petit Prince" watch attractive, and in red gold it's downright beautiful. The blue face with seven stars has, just like in the stainless steel model, a gold disc which "illuminates" a random star every day. It's not really too practical, since you'd have to assign a star to a day- but this isn't really a piece for practicality. Local AD has a sale going on where I get 20% off (end of year clearance-not under the table discount). OK all you enablers out there, as I seriously ponder my next acquisition with some time pressure, which is it? Acrylic or Sapphire?I am an AD loyalist, so trusted resellers are not an option on this one. Flat 4 bezel on F series 14060m
There are several threads on the flat 4 bezel on the LV. Is this feature considered desireable on other submariner models and if so what type of value does it add.

No mama, No Papa Rolexes in Miami, etc.?
I read this article: https://.nytimes/2018/02/16/s...egistries.htmlAnd it mentions the phrase no mama, no papa which is supposedly used for the purpose of conveying that a watch has neither papers nor serial number.According to a Los Angeles based dealer mentioned in the article, no mama, no papa watches are very easy to trade. After all, a gold Submariner is a gold Submariner. I cannot imagine wanting a Rolex with no serial number. How can they possibly be easy to trade?I think it is against the law in some places to have an item with an altered serial number. Texas comes to mind.Are Rolexes without serial numbers really as common as the article tries to imply? I thought it was an interesting article, but maybe a bit of a shill for the watch registry services mentioned.
