A Dream Visit to AP in Le Brassus, Switzerland - Part 3
=Day 2 - AP Museum, High Complication Workshop & Atelier de RestaurationAfter the high complication workshop, we were led to another section of the museum where the very early creations by AP were showcased. Many pocket watches, early wrist watches and timepieces with multiple complications were on display. Although very fascinating, we were not allowed to take pictures here. Not until we bumped into the Starwheels! I was allowed to take a souvenir shot of my rose gold Starwheel posting side-by-side with some very interesting iterations of the same mechanism.Clockwise from left: A yellow gold Starwheel with an engine-turned dial; A Starwheel pocket watch with skeletonised movement; A John Schaffer Starwheel with minute repeater; My rose gold Starwheel with Fleur-de-Lis hand-engraved dial Next, the door to the treasure land for most of the AP enthusiastsRespectfully, Mr Gerald Genta and his greatest creation, the Royal Oak ref.5402. Like a fairy tale, the iconic Royal Oak was born
AP for the wife...any input appreciated!
Well folks, the inevitable is about to happen. The wife likes my AP and wants one....so....happy wife happy life. She tried a few on yesterday but we both agreed that the 33mm range looked really good on her vs. the 37mm. She wasn't too thrilled with the diamond bezel but it was the best available model on display.I recommended her we check out the 67620ST which is a newer Quartz model. Any thoughts? It checks all the boxes for her including a rubber strap.Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Accidental Rolex
This is how it started for me. I was 19 years old and in the U.S.Army stationed in Kassel Germany. The year was 1965. A friend of mine was previously assigned to the 82nd airborne. He had a beautiful watch he used to time his jumps from the aircraft. This watch had all kinds of buttons and knobs and I was really impressed. It was an Omega Sea Master. I owned literally nothing. Even the green uniform I wore belonged to the Army. I wanted one thing I could call my own. I saved my money for a few months. It's hard to save money when your pay is $127.00 a month. I drank about $100.00 a month in that Great German Beer. One Day I got on a train and headed for Frankfort. Arriving at the Post Exchange, I headed for the watch section and asked to see an Omega Sea Master. the sales Lady informed me they were all out of Omegas, but she said We have this. She handed me a watch with no buttons, no knobs, no stop watch, no nothing. However, It was a very nice looking watch. I asked what it, as I had
Yacht-Master bezel refinishing
My supervisor taught me his magic today, refinishing a Yacht-Master bezel the Rolex way. He is a wizard.
Hulks are on their way to your local AD!
Hulks are on their way to your local AD, per conversation with local AD.He told me he got 2 in this past week, sold them both, he does not take lists, but puts them in the display case.He told me that he speaks to other AD's and that Rolex is starting to ship to AD's in the US after not shipping since last November. He does not know what is coming in, but he thought demand for SS sports watches would start to be satisfied at AD's by end of February/March. I see many Hulks for sale on this forum way above MSRP, good luck to the sellers who are flipping.
