SIHH: Images from A. Lange & S?hne
During my visit with A. Lange & S?hne at SIHH last week, I had an opportunity to snap some images in and around the booth, including a few of the new timepieces. The big story this year is the brand’s 165th anniversary and the three Homage to F.A. Lange pieces in Lange’s proprietary honey gold. The new Annual Calendar was also very well received. SIHH guests mingle outside the Lange boothThe booth entrance featured a large Zeitwerk-inspired clock that naturally displayed the current time digitally Noted watchmaker Philippe Dufour admires a Lange movement at the boothAt SIHH, Lange introduced a black-dial version of the Zeitwerk, known internally as the “Phantom”. To be read at night, the Phantom’s numbers must glow, but charging the luminescent material is a challenge when the numbers are hidden behind the dial most of the time. Lange solved the problem by creating the dial from a “reverse sunglasses” material that allows UV light through,
Pontiac Watches Dead Long Before Car Maker Kicks Bucket
I don't know when Pontiac watches died, but they did. They were not an American brand, but as brands come and go, Pontiac went the way of the Dodo a long time ago. GM recently announced that Pontiac will shut down. The over 80 year old division of General Motors has had better times of course, but are we really losing much with the elimination of this automobile brand? The last important Pontiac car was probably the late 1960's GTO line, but that was just because it looked cool - since then it has been dog after derivative dog. The only good recent Pontiac cars were just re-branded Australian Holden cars. While still technically GM cars, Holden had no connection to the chronically dysfunctional American design and engineering side of things. This article is mostly my mention of Pontiac's death, but of course you can see images of the Pontiac watches - just needed to make the timepiece connection! Going back to the cars, I've always had a distinct sense of distaste for the ugly autos. I
The first sratch. Very light but hurt so bad :(
My baby was in a bad mood and crying the whole night. This morning i was like walking in the moon and a walk through the door. Very light contact between the door handle and the watch. My heart skipped a beat. Now it has a very light scratch on the bezel. The scratch is on 3.30 oclock. I know some of you will kindly smooth me with adding character to the watch thing, but im kinda perfectionist freak. I can not surpass this and keep my eye off it.Now come a question:Im willing to pay few hundred usd for this to disappear. I know this scratch can be esialy remove by a good watchmaker since its very light. Can i make an appointment with AP service centrel in Singapore, bring it in and collect after a day with only that part polishing? Should i bring it to independent watchmaker that skillful enough to do so? In that case, he must located in Singapore as well since i dont have change to go anywhere else in short period. Will it void my warranty? The watch is only 4 months old. Thanks you guy
