Bulgari's Bold Move To Integrate With Daniel Roth & Gerald Genta
The pursuit continued of life in the house of troubled luxury brand has a method. Bulgari has recently announced news that should be considered uncommon at the least. In a strange move that I would have never predicted, the Bulgari brand actually eats two other brands that it already owns. The result will be a unified brand in image and manufacture, such that each watch coming from the super brand will have the name "Bvlgari" (Bulgari" as I care to say it) on each watch that is released. A hint in the form of an image depicts a potential result of this "new way" where Bvlgari is seen as the originator, presenting a Gerald Genta timepiece. Why has the event come to pass? It is more than merely a complex branding and marketing exercise. The fact is that each watch brand in the past was more or less independent. With its individual manufacturing, design, marketing, and sales arms. This redundant system works if each brand is truly independent, but being under common ownership, a more effic
The Breguet Tradition Automatique Seconde Rtrograde 7097
There are a lot of intense words in Breguet's press release for this watch – "outstanding," "faultless," "peened" – that lead me to believe they are still basking in the glow of that 2014 Grand Prix Aiguille d'Or. Make no mistake, however – the Tradition Automatique Seconde Rétrograde (which makes its formal debut at Baselworld) is a very different watch than the Classique Chronométrie that took home the watch industry's top honors. The movement is exposed, resulting in a cool, neo-luxury look with fine movement specs to back it all up. 1 OF 2 In contrast to the complex movement on display, the shape of the 40 mm, 18k white-gold case is simple and straight-forward, with a perfectly circular polished bezel and straight lugs (with a little bevel at the end). The dial at 12 o'clock for the hours and minutes features an engine-turned detail around the circumference, a circular brushed finish underne
Incoming Panerai 514
Time to add some more Panerais to my collection. Picking up this little diddy. The 1940 cases are my favorite. Anyone else have one??
25K+ Smurf 116619LB for every day wear?
Hi forum,I don't own (yet) but love the subtlety of the Rolex smurf, 116619LB white gold. It seems more subtle (due to lack of yellow shiny gold) to me. My question is, at such a price (25K+) would you be nervous wearing it every day if you could afford such a watch. Not worrying about it getting stolen. I like the notion of jeans and t shirt and what looks to most people like just a blue plain submariner. Of course, I wonder if I'd be so nervous to lose it or scratch it that I might not actually wear it daily. Your thoughts?
