Quincy Jones Visits Audemars Piguet
This past Thursday, on the eve of the traditional Swiss watch industry vacation, a longtime friend visited the watchmakers of the Manufacture Audemars Piguet to get an up-close look at the watch bearing his name: the Millenary Quincy Jones, which was presented at the SIHH 2010. For several years, Audemars Piguet and Quincy Jones have been associated in developing Project Q , aimed at raising political and public awareness of young people's need for self-expression and the means that must be provided to ensure they fulfill their potential. The cornerstone of Project Q is the Q Prize , an international award presented by Audemars Piguet honoring a public figure or social organization having played a central role on behalf of children. Through his Quincy Jones Foundation, the artist is also committed to helping children by improving their well-being, their health and their dignity. The new Millenary Quincy Jones watch will contribute to raising funds for this foundation. In speaking of
Hands-On: The Tudor Heritage Black Bay 36 (Live Pics, Thoughts, Official Pricing)
This is the best watch I have seen so far at Baselworld C there, I said it. You may have read about the new Tudor Heritage Black Bay 36 yesterday C well, I just had a chance to see it in person, and I can absolutely confirm that in the metal, and on the wrist, it's just as awesome as it looks in the official press images C maybe more so. 1 OF 8 First of all, the Black Bay 36 wears incredibly well. The 36 mm stainless-steel case lies perfectly flat and is perfectly comfortable on both male and female wrists (as you can see from the pictures below). Just as importantly, it looks in proportion to the wrist, not overwhelming it or seeming too small. I find it so refreshing to see a 36 mm case from a brand I love that generally sticks to 41-43 mm cases, as I think this size really is the one that suits most (but not all) people. 2 OF 8 For her. 3 OF 8 For him. Second of all, this watch is strongly reminiscent of the much-desired Rolex Explorer r
Breaking News: SIHH Welcomes Nine New Independent Watch Makers In 2016
SIHH has announced that they will be welcoming nine new independent watch brands to next year's exhibition. There have been rumors of some changes happening at the 2016 SIHH, including layout and design, but now it has been confirmed that the exhibition will be expanding its roster of haute horlogerie firms to include nine more independent brands. These brands are: Christophe Claret, De Bethune, H.Moser & Cie, Hautlence, HYT, Kari Voutilainen, Laurent Ferrier, MB&F, and Urwerk. Additionally, Ralph Lauren will not be showing this year – the company has stated that they wish to focus more on their U.S. market. In an interview with the Swiss publication, Bilan, SIHH states that they have been open to including independent brands in the exhibition since 1998. More information can be found on the SIHH website.
Diver Just Landed!!!
I am so happy with this watch. It's amazing!!! It was well worth it getting rid of other pieces to fund this one. Expect a nice lengthy review in a few days. Date 34 vs DJ36 vs OP34 vs OP36 - substantial differences?
I am shopping for a classic and timeless daily wear stainless Rolex for my wife that is mid-sized with a smooth bezel on the Oyster bracelet. I would prefer if it had a slight sporty edge to it since she already owns a formal attire watch. If R made a 36mm Sub I would buy that but they don't and she finds the YM too flashy. Looking over the men's and ladies options there are four models that seem appropriate.OP34OP36Date34DJ36Other than the later two having the date feature and the obvious (small) size difference are there any major reasons to choose one model over the other? Resale value isn't a consideration because she will own the watch forever. I understand the DJ36 and OP36 are probably the newest members of this group and until today I wasn't even aware of the Date34.Any advice would be appreciated!
